Tennis fans start getting excited, the Aegon Classic is back! Starting this Monday, the Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club will be welcoming some of the most important, talented female tennis players to Birmingham for the tournament that is seen as a precursor to Wimbledon. This year, the tournament is welcoming Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic, last years winner Daniela Hantuchova along with British hopes Heather Watson, Johanna Konta and Naomi Broady. There was rain of frankly Biblical proportions, which unfortunately did stop play, but it certainly didn’t halt the style of the Aegon Classic ladies Day in Birmingham last week, the day had it in spades. Yesterday I braved the snow and ice for a very special launch event that was taking place in Birmingham. In the glamorous confines of the In House Bar in Birmingham’s House of Fraser, the Aegon Classic Ladies Day was officially launched with Bucks Fizz, canapes and a very glamorous ambassador. The very beautiful Michelle Heaton from Liberty X was unveiled as the official face of this years ladies day, and a more wonderful and apt person could not have been chosen.
