Fashion Focus – Next New Season Coats and Jackets
It has been such a beautiful day, with blue skies and a sunshine brightening up the day. But returning home this evening, there was most definitely a chill in the air, to remind us that we are now in Autumn, and the realms of an Indian Summer. So while it is quite OK to keep wearing the sandals at the moment, the days of wearing our coats is just around the corner, and we need to keep a jacket to hand for those chillier days just in case. Next have launched their Autumn/Winter collection, and it contains some really exceptional Autumn jackets, and a great range of Winter coats. We…

Reviewed – Gina Bacconi Lace and Velvet Dress
A few years ago I went on a fabulous cruise with my husband and family. There were a couple of formal, black tie events taking place whilst we were on board, events that called for a special evening gown. Now, I’d given birth just 8 months earlier and was not feeling particularly glam or body confident, so I needed a dress that would make me feel beautiful, if only for a night. The brand I turned to was Gina Bacconi, a brand who understand about glamour and can dress curvy figures. I have to say I loved my dress and how it made me feel. Flash forward five years and…

Wallis new season – dresses with sleeves!
Today’s post is a continuation of the look towards the new season ranges that are now hitting stores and websites. I think we can safely say that we all accept that Summer is over and Autumn has begun. I personally love the changing of the seasons, and the new styles that come with it. Autumn, in particular, is a lovely season that brings gold, brown and orange to the fore in terms of nature, but also see new colours hitting stores. This season cobalt and teal are looking to be popular choices – a real departure after a summer of pastel shades, whilst there are also an abundance of red…

Reviewed – Primetime Ponte Skater Dress from Great Plains
Great Plains is another fashion brand I have rediscovered recently. The sister brand to French Connection, Great Plains was a brand I wore a lot during the years 2000-2007, but then I had Joe, gained weight that didn’t shift, and could no longer fit into the dresses. But since Joe started school I have been more active, enjoying long walks and swimming each week, and suddenly I have lost some of the stubborn baby weight that had taken up residence. And so, when I was asked if I would like to review a dress from Great Plains, I was able to say a resounding yes, because I knew the dress…

Miami Vice style in a Pink Crepe Blazer from New Look
The hunt for a perfect pink jacket has been continuing at pace. I totally loved the F&F 60s style, which just looked so pretty over a dress (you can revisit that one here), but I was longing to find something that could be less formal, more at home with jeans, especially now we seem to be firmly entrenched in jacket weather. This gorgeous little number I was sent by New Look Inspire seems to fit the bill. The Inspire Dark Pink Crepe Blazer from New Look takes its style cues from the 1980s, in particular it reminded me of the super cool style of Crockett and Tubbs from Miami Vice.…
