Grammy fashion – Who made the grade.
The Grammy’s is always interesting in fashion terms (who could ever forget Gaga arriving in an egg?), but this year there was a sombre cloud hanging over the proceedings, following the death, just hours earlier, of Grammy winning superstar Whitney Houston. But the show did go on, and there was one undoubted winner on the night, both in the music and style stakes. And so, once again, that which the God’s give, they take away. This could never be more true than in the death of Whitney Houston, a goddess of a woman with the true voice of an angel who has died at the age of 48. I loved Whitney from those early days of ‘Saving all my love for you’, a song I still belt out when home alone. She was frankly the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. The Brits – a host of Westwood and no eggs in sight!
The biggest night in British music took place in London last night. The Brit awards did not attract as many superstars as The Grammy awards, nor as many fashionistas to watch(with the honourable exception of Rihanna). There was no Kylie, no Lily Allen, no Florence Welch, but there were still many outfits to savour, and a few to commiserate with. Grammys fashion – good, bad and just insane!
Sunday night was a very busy night in the awards calendar. As well as the Baftas, The Grammys were also taking place, albeit on the other side of the Atlantic and in much better weather. The Grammys are renowned for interesting style choices, and this year was no exception. There were angel wings, extreme animal prints and Lady Gaga arriving in an egg!
