Victorian Shopping style – The Paradise
I was glued to the TV last night as a new costume drama started on the BBC. ‘The Paradise’ is set in a very early version of a department store during the Victorian era. (I’m thinking of a cross between an early Whiteleys and Selfridges, although both came a little later than the period this is set in.) As you can imagine, the series looks beautiful, with a gorgeous leading lady, Denise, played by Joanne Vanderham, and handsome leading man. But what really catches the eye is the totally exquisite Paradise itself. I can’t imagine any woman who wouldn’t want to shop at The Paradise. Brocade covered, pastel coloured walls,…

Duchess Kate – The final looks of a great tour wardrobe
The Duchess of Cambridge is now on her way back to the UK as I write, and has bid farewell to the beautiful islands and destinations that have welcomed both William and Kate so warmly. But before she left there were a few more glamorous outfits to be showcased, along with a wavy, more carefree hairstyle that showed that even those famous chestnut locks aren’t safe from tropical humidity. The navy blue, broderie anglaise dress from Mulberry has been a major hit for Kate, possibly because it has such a youthful feel to it, Kate teamed it with her Stuart Weitzman wedges, which matched perfectly. This dress has such a…

Rigby and Peller combine glamour, luxury and seduction
Rigby and Peller have a name that is just synonymous with luxury and glamour. Now in its 73rd year, the premium lingerie retailer, which has held its royal warrant for more than 50 years, offers the luxurious, the glamorous and the beautiful when it comes to lingerie. And the upcoming collection offers a darkly Gothic glamour that speaks of vampish beauties in 1940s B- movies, all violet and purple, silk and lace. This is a rich and opulent collection, with the dark hues and heavier silken fabrics and micro-fibre. There are unusual cut-out details that keep the collection modern and up-to-date, whilst the thicker width of bra straps and the…

Debenhams gives you your own capsule Duchess Kate wardrobe this season
The Duchess of Cambridge has become one of the world’s leading style icons in the year since her wedding to Prince William. She rarely puts a foot wrong stylewise, and whilst some have accused her of being a little boring in her style choices, the truth is that she just chooses pieces that have a classic look that she can revisit and revamp again and again. Her look is sophisticated, flawless and elegant. No wonder everything that she wears proves to be an instant sell out, and that the world’s leading designers are now flocking to dress her. For her recent tour, that has included Alexander McQueen, Prabal Gurung, Mulberry,…
