TM Lewin present the perfect white shirt
The perfect white shirt is the holy grail of shirts. Finding a shirt with the right cut, the right fit, the perfect buttons, the crispest whitest of whites is not an easy task, and when you add into that the fact that of a rather large bust that needs to be flattered rather than flattened, you make the task virtually impossible. So thank goodness for the legendary English tailoring of TM Lewin. TM Lewin has been a must visit London destination for the discerning gentleman since 1898, when Thomas Mayes Lewin first opened his Jermyn Street store. These days the company has just under a 100 stores in the UK,…

X Factor Fash Off – Week 3 – A very mixed bag
Week three of the X Factor live shows, and it was safe to say it was not a vintage week in terms of fashion or music. With only Ella, James and District 3 impressing during the live show, and with dubious outfits from both Tulisa and Nicole, it was again left to Ella Henderson to add some style and class to the proceedings. Here are my opinions on the clothes on show this week, which again I judge to be honours even. Nicole started the weekend well with a mouth-watering raspberry skater dress from Alexander McQueen. The colour was just amazing on her, and I liked that the bodice and…

X Factor Fashion – Week 2 Tulisa, Nicole…and Ella Henderson.
Week 2 of the X Factor proved that Tulisa can really pull a fabulous look out of the bag when it is called for. With the elegant and beautiful Nicole Scherzinger sitting on the same panel, Tulisa knows that the style bar has been raised – let’s face it, with her bone structure and catlike eyes, Nicole would look great in an earthen sack. But Tulisa is a girl who can always spring a style surprise (albeit not always a good one…) and last night was one of those nights. Tulisa chose a classy white draped dress with leather panels from New York designer Alexander Wang. There was just so…

X Factor Live show Fash Off – Week 1
Well, it is back with a bang, and if last night’s live vote was anything to go by, then singing is not the most important thing about the X Factor ( Rylan is apparently a better act than the beautiful, talented Carolynne..who would’ve believed that???). So I will concentrate on one of my favourite aspects of X Factor, the fash-off. Last year, the lovely Kelly Rowland was the absolute clear winner in the style stakes, choosing beautiful dress after beautiful dress and leaving Tulisa frankly in the shade. But with Kelly gone, Tulisa faced a new challenge from Nicole Scherzinger. So who would win the battle of the opening week…

Lowie – Luxurious Winter knits
One of my favourite UK brands at the moment is the luxury knitwear company Lowie. Taking the finest soft wools, Lowie’s knitwear is hand-knitted, hand sen and often hand- embroidered, taking the finest traditions of handicrafts from across the world, and using them to create totally wonderful modern clothes and accessories that have a decidedly vintage slant. Lowie already have a celebrity following who have been enticed by the softness of the wool that is combined with bright, funky colours that can lift the darkness coat into serious style territory. Lily Cole, Fearne Cotton and Luella Bartley are all fans of the label, which is becoming one of the gems…
