The Met Gala – My favourite looks
Last night saw fashion’s most glamorous night, with the annual Met Gala taking place in New York. Everybody who was anybody, in the fashion world, in Hollywood, in television, turned out in force, showing off an array of some of the most beautiful gowns I have ever seen. The theme this year was linked to a new exhibition dedicated to Charles James, the 1940s/1950s king of couture. The Beyond Fashion exhibition was opened this week by Michelle Obama, and showcases a range of billowy, dramatic, sculptured dresses that Charles James was famous for. I was glad to see so many Charles James influenced dresses on the Met red carpet, most…

The Met Gala – My best dressed
It is probably the most glamorous fashion event of the year, and this year again proved that when the world’s of Hollywood, fashion and modelling combine, you are sure of some totally standout looks, along with a couple you’d rather forget. This year’s theme was Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, which ensured there would be a sea of Prada on display, along with a wonderful tribute to Schiaparelli’s famous Lobster print dress worn by Anna Wintour. There were plenty of other gowns to tantalise the fashion taste buds. These are my favourites from a wonderfully glamorous night. Carey Mulligan looked like a wonderfully space aged Judy Jetson in this stunning…

Cannes continues – More Frock Stars and Frock Horrors.
Day 5 and 6 of the Cannes film festival have given us some more looks to sallivate over, and a few others that have left me shaking my head and asking ‘Why’. Good clothes have happened to good people, but bad clothes have also happened to good people. Here are some of my best and worst looks of the last few days. Good – Elizabeth Olsen in The Row. It is official, Elizabeth Olsen is the best advertisement ‘The Row’ will ever get. The little sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley wore her sister’s designs, a daytime look in white and a stunning black 1920s flapper look whilst promoting her film…

Sarah Jessica Parker – The style icon is back!
Like most women, I adore Sarah Jessica Parker and her inimitable style. She is, after all, Carrie Bradshaw – the women with the most lusted after wardrobe on both the small and silver screen. But lately, things have been quiet on the Carrie Bradshaw front. The critical mauling that Sex in the City 2 took means that it is looking very unlikely that there will be a Sex in the City 3,whilst Sarah herself had been a little quiet, seeming be photographed only when she was looking casual on the school run. But May has seen the re-emergence of a true style icon. From a triumphant appearance at the met…

The Met Ball – Frocky Horrors.
The Met ball was a night of High Fashion, but for every beautiful dress, there was a frocky horror story happening. Bad clothes did happen to good people on the evening. Here are the stars who really should’ve looked in a mirror before they left the house that evening! Rihanna. She wore a long lace Stella McCartney dress that raised that tiresome question – is she or isn’t she wearing any knickers. The quick answer is – who cares? Everyone has been adopting this look lately, even Kate Winslet, and it’s getting rather boring. And as for the Rapunzel red plait…get a haircut Rihanna. Rosie Huntington Whiteley, officially the sexiest…
