It is quite a feat to be named both best and worst dressed star of the year, but in 2013 Miley Cyrus has certainly polarised opinion. The Video music awards are always a great showcase for a range of looks that always seem to take in the sublime and the ridiculous. With the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry on show, you know they are guaranteed to be anything but boring, and this year proved to be no exception. MTV EMA’S – The best looks.
Sunday saw the MTV European Music Awards. Lady divas were out in force with Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Jessie J and Katy B all in attendance. But, as seems to be usual from the MTV fright shows, seriously good fashion looks were a bit thin on the ground. Lady Gaga looked like she’d lost her heart to a starship trouper in futuristic Paco Rabanne,Katy Perry came as a bad Frenchie from Grease lookalike complete with kitsch 50s outfit and pink hair, whilst Jennifer Metcalfe wore Olivia Newton John’s bad girl trousers from the same film. Any MTV awards seem to promise a wide range of interesting looks – some amazing, some not so. This Sunday’s awards were dominated by the news of Beyoncé’s pregnancy, Lady Gaga turning up as her alter-ego – a man named Jo, and Katie Perry wearing four different outfits – everyone bad! Here are some of the looks I really liked..and a few I didn’t. Beyoncé looked beautiful in a sari style dress by Lanvin. Amy Winehouse.
I was devastated to hear about the tragic and untimely death of Amy Winehouse today at the far too young age of 27. I saw Amy perform live in 2007 and she was truly amazing – an iconic talent with a style and voice that was truly unique. Back to Black is my favourite album, one I listen to when happy(Tears dry on their own is so uplifting) or sad (is there a more poignant song than Love is a loosing game?).
