Designer Vintage Bridal Show – Oh! To be a bride…Pt 2.
The most amazing feature of Highbury Hall is the gorgeous staircase. You can just imagine brides floating down it in a sea of silk and lace on their special day. I had these thoughts in my head as I walked up the stairs, pausing dead in my tracks to admire the most fabulous dress I had ever seen. This 1920s style gold sheath is the sort of dress that tempts married women into divorce in order to get married again and WEAR THAT DRESS! “It’s Jenny Packham” I was reliably informed. I thought this would be the perfect dress for Keely Hawes to wear as Lady Agnes when ‘Upstairs, Downstairs’…

Designer Vintage Bridal Show – Oh! To be a bride…Pt 1.
This weekend, Highbury Hall has been the venue for the most glamorous, chic wedding show that Birmingham has ever hosted. The inaugural ‘Designer Vintage Wedding Show’, had sparkling style, vintage chic and sumptuous wedding gowns in an amazing setting. Imagine a trip through time to an Agatha Christie era country pile, where the elegant guests are treated to pots of Earl Grey in delicate bone china cups, and slices of the most mouth-watering layer cake, whilst being entertained by a string quartet. On retiring to you room, after enjoying a selection of 78s being played on an original gramophone, you find your bedroom filled with the most glorious selection of…

The Brits – a host of Westwood and no eggs in sight!
The biggest night in British music took place in London last night. The Brit awards did not attract as many superstars as The Grammy awards, nor as many fashionistas to watch(with the honourable exception of Rihanna). There was no Kylie, no Lily Allen, no Florence Welch, but there were still many outfits to savour, and a few to commiserate with. Here is a quick rundown of those who won the style awards, and those who were the also-rans! Style Winners. Rihanna wore two stunning couture gowns on the night. She arrived in a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress that was the combination of a purple bodice and turquoise tulle skirt.…

Baftas – style highs and lows.
Last night was the most important night on the British film calendar – The Baftas. As expected, ‘The Kings speech’ dominated the awards winning seven in total, including Best film, best Actor for Colin Firth and Best supporting actor and actress for Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. Best actress went to Natalie Portman, who was absent due to her pregnancy, but many other Hollywood stars made the trip across the pond and braved the wet London weather for the ceremony. Here is Fashion-mommy’s guide to the best and worst looks on the red carpet last night. Trend – all shades of blue! Blue was definitely one of the key…

Fashion Deja Vu…or Haven’t I seen that before?
I was enjoying an intense session with this Month’s Vogue, when a thought crossed my mind. The images, the ad campaigns, the styles, the faces. Even though these were meant to be brand spanking new, that all looked oddly familiar. That’s when I realised that 2011 will be the year of fashion/style and celebrity deja vu, or, to put it another way, that face looks oddly familiar. Want more proof? You’ve got it. Then you can decide if nostalgia has become a new byword for style. First up – Edie Campbell – a hybrid of Marianne Faithfull and Penelope Tree. Edie Campbell is London Fashion’s latest it girl model. Featuring…
