The power of a slogan t-shirt!
This weekend I have experienced the full power of the slogan t-shirt. An item of clothing that Iwould never wear under normal circumstances, the slogan t-shirt is a modern classic, immortalised by Katherine Hamnett designs in the 1980’s. Who could forget Wham wearing ‘Choose Life’ tees whilst singing ‘Wake me up before you go go‘, or ‘Frankie says relax’ tees that were worn by everyone, including my 6 year old sister, totally in ignorance of the controversy behind Frankie goes to Hollywood, and that song. Katherine Hamnett famously meet Margaret Thatcher whilst wearing her slogan tee – shirt, keeping her politics close to her chest. Slogan tees saw a revival…

Grace Kelly at the V&A.
Revisiting a post from 2010. Fashion-mommy was lucky enough to see the Grace Kelly Style exhibition at the V&A last week. After depositing Baba safely with Grandad Mick, and taking a strangely leisurely train journey into the Capital, Fashion-Mommy and her three favourite girlies (My own fashion mommy, sister and BFF Dawn) all spent a wonderful hour or so admiring the wardrobe of a true fashionista, with an ageless style that has certainly transcended the decades. The V&A was very busy, with all Grace Kelly tickets sold out for the day. I’d like to think this had less to do with the pouring rain and more to do with real…

This got fashion-mommy thinking about her 90’s style, and the decade in general in order to try to answer the question ‘is it too early for a 90’s style revival, and if it is not, is it really worth reviving anyway? Early 1990s My early 90’s style was…

My Latest Vintage Finds
My husband knows me only too well. At the weekend we visited The Emporium, an antique, retro and vintage store in Brierley Hill, and while we were there, I feel in love with a beautiful 1970s vintage dress. It was purple and gold, with long sleeves and Fortuny style pleats. I knew I couldn’t leave without it, and so hubby got it as a Valentine’s present. It is perfect! It got me thinking that I hadn’t shared any of my vintage finds for a while. January and February have actually been pretty good months in terms of vintage finds in normal charity shops rather than dedicated vintage shops. The prices…
