    Lily Allen weds!

This Saturday saw the wedding of Lily Allen and Sam Cooper, and the surprise but heart warming news that Lily is more than 12 weeks pregnant. All eyes were on the dress, as Lily is known as a vintage aficionado, who has here own vintage clothes shop, Lucy in Disguise, that she co-runs with sister Sarah, and has recently launched her own vintage-inspired line to be sold through Harvey Nichols. Lily is also a sometime muse of Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, so he was another possible designer name in the frame. As it was, Lily plumped for an exquisite 1920s style dress by French designer Delphine Manivet, that owed something in style…

Burton’s perfect grey suit – what every man needs in his wardrobe!

Every man needs at least one suit in his wardrobe. Whether it be for work,  job interviews, weddings, special occasions or just for those special moments when you feel like making the effort, a suit is an essential part of a man’s clothing collection. And yet suits can be a troublesome item to buy. You want the Saville Row/Ozwald Boateng perfect fit, but without that jaw dropping price tag. You want something that isn’t going to make you hot and sweaty at those long meetings on Summer days. And you…

Royal Wedding – best dressed guests.

The Royal wedding was a perfect excuse for fashion watching. I got up really early to watch the guests arrive in all their sartorial splendour, and I wasn’t disappointed. The wedding guest style had everything, from the brights of Joss Stone and Tara Palmer Tompkinson, the Phillip Treacy hats that gave more than a passing glance to the style of the late Isabella Blow, the surprising elegance of Camilla Parker Bowles, and the extraordinary outfit choices of the Princesses of York. Here are my favourite outfits of the day, along with a few that may not become trendsetting. Ageless style Camilla Parker Bowles wore a beautiful Anna Valentine coat/dress. This…

April Style Icon of the Month – Kate Middleton

From shopping trips on the High Street to that fabulous wedding dress. From a neat Amanda Wakeley blue dress and jacket, to a sleek and stylish black Issa dress, there could be no other style icon for the month of April than the beautiful Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge. The stunning ivory wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton from the house of Alexander McQueen was exquisitely simple and elegant. Lace sleeved, with a nipped in waist and a-line skirt, this was a dress fit for a Princess, demure, with a slight antique feel, but also very contemporary, and set to be the style all brides aspire to this year.…

    Kate’s bridal style.

The speculation had been almost frenzied – who would design the wedding dress of the century? Would it be Alice Temperley? Bruce Oldfield was a popular choice for a time, but then tailed off towards the end? Would Kate use Daniella Helayel of Issa, one of her favourite designers? There was a late surge for Sophie Cranston, but on Friday morning at 11.00a.m, the whole of the fashion world  shrieked with pleasure at the news that Kate Middleton had chosen Sarah Burton from the House of Alexander McQueen to design her  wedding dress. And what a beautiful dress it was! Kate Middleton looked truly regal as she walked down the…
