Cinderella brings sorbet colours to Kaliko
Forget 50 Shades, for fans of fairytale romance and opulent costumes, the real cinematic treat of the year opens next month. Kenneth Branagh’s retelling of Cinderella, featuring Downton Abbey star Lily James as the epoynmous heroine, has already received some great reviews, and promises to bring frothy, glittering fun to the screen, with dresses fit for Disney princesses.
From the stills that have already appeared online, Cinderella is a sumptuous, visual feast. For girls who grew up loving the classic Disney version, the good news is that when Cinderella does get to the ball, she is still wearing a blue gown…and what a gown it is. Think every little girl’s dream of a princess dress and you get the picture, blue tulle, sparkles and frills, and acres of petticoats. The super pretty Lily James wears it brilliantly, and the dress is sure to launch thousands of fancy dress costumes for little (and not so little) girls.
The sorbet colours of the ball scene, lemons and pinks, greens, and of course blue, are setting the agenda for the beautiful new looks from Kaliko. Their latest collection is frothy and feminine, with prom style dresses created from lace and silk fabrics, with beading, ribbons and floral applique adding to the opulent looks. The overall effect is one that is supremely pretty, perfect for summer weddings and special occasions. The collection is also full of dresses that would make a great choice for a bridesmaid or maid of honour.

And…just in case you were wondering about the evil stepmother and the Ugly Sisters, check out a sensational Cate Blanchett breathing fire into that particular role.

How very exciting. I had no idea Cinderella was being made into a real live film 😉
All of these dresses are gorgeous – just need the occasion to wear one.

The film sounds exciting, fingers crossed it’s a PG so I can take my 3 year old to see it.
