Discovering new design with Carnet de Mode
A few weeks ago I discovered the wonderful world of Carnet de Mode, and the host of new design ideas and talented designers it was now giving a virtual catwalk too. I blogged about the concept on this site (you can read that post here) and how I believed it was a truly great idea that was a way of supporting fledgling designers who were not always in a position to host their own catwalk collections, or even their own websites, but still had great new products to introduce to the world.I also loved the idea that fashionista’s and consumers could show their support for new design by getting involved at the preview stage.
Since discovering the site, I have spent lots of time perusing the site, and in this post I am going to introduce you to a few of the designers who have really impressed me with the beauty of their designs.
Raluca Mihalceanu
Romanian designer Raluca Mihalceanu has created designs of breathtaking beauty this season. With an emphasis on sophisticated evening wear, Raluca creates the sort of designs that exude elegance, romance and just a little bit of feminine mystery. There is the tulle net skirt that is an intoxicating mixture of Carrie Bradshaw with a nod to Natalie Portman in ‘The Black Swan’. The black velvet, Oriental inspired evening dress that could’ve belonged to Annie May Wong in ‘Shanghai Express’ is an absolute favourite of mine, sheer glamour and decadence with true vintage styling.
Adolfo Sanchez
If you want to see the next generation of red-carpet dressing, then you need look no further than the ultra-glamorous designs of Adolfo Sanchez. The Californian native launched his first ready to wear line in 2006, but before this, he had mastered his trade in the design houses of Versace, Carolina Herrera and Gucci. It shows. High-Octane Hollywood glamour, dresses that flash the flesh in the most show-stopping way. These are the dresses you really want to see being worn by Victoria Beckham, Angeline Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence.
