January Casual Style With Femme Luxe

So January has come around again, and boy is it cold. The sparkle and glamour of Christmas has now gone, and along with it the mild climate that we seemed to be enjoying (we won’t talk about the rain) and this week we have seen temperatures plummet to zero, and we’ve even seen a bit of snow. All this calls for a more cosy feel to our wardrobe, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to look stylish.

Femme Luxe is Queen when it comes to wonderfully warm and stylish clothes. Their women’s loungewear sets are almost legendary, and their little black dresses and winter white midi dress have been a style story this Christmas. Now they are providing you with a wonderful wardrobe to complete this Winter, with some styles you might find familiar appearing in an array of different colours.

The Lore Lime oversized split side knitted jumper may look familiar to those who like to read the fashion on this blog, the stone version of this jumper appeared in a previous review here, worn with skinny fit leggings. This time the version is in a gloriously zesty lime, and there are also versions available in grey and pink, whilst the stone is also still available.

This is a truly great jumper, classic in style, but with twists in the design that make it very modern and fashionable. It has a crew neckline and ribbed cuffs and hemline. It is slightly oversized in style, so you can either choose your own size to wear it loose and casual, or can size down to make it more fitted. This is the large version, which is size 12-14 and is a perfect fit for me as I prefer slightly more fitted styles. Of course it has stretch in the knit so it is very comfortable to wear, whether you choose to wear it with leggings, high waisted skinny trousers or jeans, or even with a pair of ripped jeans for women.

I styled my jumper with a pair of the Skylar, black high waisted skinny trousers in faux leather PU. I have to say that I find these to be more like a straight leg trouser rather than skinny, but they are lovely, and make a great alternative to regular trousers. They have a great, easy, pull on style, with no buttons or zips, and are generous in style and size. I wore these on this particular day with black ankle boots to enlongate the legs, but I have since worn them rolled over, boat style, with a flat ballet pump, showing that these will be a perfect transitional piece once the weather starts to warm up.

But back to the jumper, the star of the show. Because this has a crew neck, it could easily be worn layered over a thin knit polo neck for an extra layer of warmth. The block colour makes it easy to accessorise. On this occasion I chose a large vintage brooch that I often struggle to wear as it needs a completely plain background, but I think this jumper works perfectly for this. As already mentioned, I added black boots, and also a black cross body Paul Costelloe handbag from Buy Charity. Because the lime shade is so glorious and zesty, I think it suits black accessories, although I think it could also work with animal print, or monochrome with a flash of bright white. Those side splits also mean you won’t find a better jumper to be worn over your leggings – this really is that perfect, throw on piece for the school run, or mornings when you don’t have a lot of time to think about your look.
