Liberty update the saddle bag for 2015
The Saddle bag was undoubtedly the bag of the 1970s. Nothing looked better than it when teamed with flared jeans and a cheesecloth blouse, but it also totally fitted the bill with the more slinky printed wrap dresses a la Diane Von Furstenberg. Worn cross body, or swinging from the shoulder, this grown up version of a satchel had plenty of room for all those essentials, and yet still managed to be compact and elegant.
In recent times, the saddle bag has been revitalised by the likes of Zatchels and Ralph Lauren, and has gained a new army of celebrity fans. Taylor Swift seems to have a whole variety of colours, whilst the likes of Rachel Bilson, Olivia Wilde, Beyonce, Jessica Alba and current Hollywood darling Jennifer Lawrence have all embraced the style and practicality of the saddle bag in a range of soft leathers and shades. And now, for 2015, Liberty London are putting their stamp on the iconic bag by introducing a range in their famous prints.
Liberty have taken one of the most famous of their iconic, Art Nouveau inspired prints, the Ianthe design, and have updated it for the 21st century, creating Iphis, and have then recreated this in a range of colours. The Ianthe design was named for the Greek girl who married Iphis in mythology, with the updated design named in tribute to her lover. The current design is hand-printed in Italy and is trimmed with leather, with the traditional Liberty London purple logo stamped lining and internal pockets.
This is not a cheap bag, but is most definitely a gorgeous investment buy that you could happily use for years and years. I love the vibrant range of colours that the bag comes in, bringing that beautiful pattern to life in such a warm and bright way. I think this could be the first ‘it’ bag of 2015 and I personally love it – definitely on a lust list for this year.

These are to die for. I love the red one in particular. I’ve just bought myself a new bag from Coach though so I don’t think I can justify another designer purchase just yet sadly. Maybe one day!

This is defo my kind of bad but no way could afford that price tag, hopefully the high street will create a more affordable bag like this.

I love these…especially the blue and pink one. Unfortunately they are way out my price range but I can still dream….until Primark produce a knock off! X

What gorgeous patterns! I tend to wear a lot of black so perhaps a brightly patterned bag would be a good shout for brightening my wardrobe!
