Pistol Panties Pop Up Shop launched at Selfridges
Last week saw the launch of the Pistol Panties pop up shop in Selfridges London. Bloggers and Press were invited along for a sneak preview before the official launch, enjoying the unique experience of the huge Selfridges store with no customers. Designer Deborah Fleming was on hand to talk about the collection, and a gorgeous carousel style Unicorn took pride of place in the centre of the swimwear, adding a psychedelic and slightly surreal atmosphere to the proceedings.
Pistol Panties latest swimwear collection has been inspired by the 1960s Raquel Welch Western Bandelero. Designer Deborah Fleming grew up surrounded by brothers who loved to watch such films on Saturday afternoons. This is swimwear that oozes sheer poolside glamour, designed to be worn with big hair and false eyelashes. Although the collection has its heart in a 1960s Western, there are other themes running throughout, from 1950s style daisy print bikinis and one pieces, to Paco Rabanne influenced space age chain prints. This is also a collection that requires you to take a second, much closer look. A beautiful black and white bikini turns out to be decorated with zebras – a real touch of the unexpected.
This is such a fabulous, fun collection. The prints appeal to both quirky lovers of vintage styling and those who aspire to drape James Bond’s arm. There are also some ultra glam cover ups that will easily take you from the pool to the bar, and will then double up as a gorgeous tunic for your journey home.
