Reviewed – Boohoo Evie Mesh Hem Panel Midi Dress

I am very happy to say that after the initial launch of Boohoo’s Plus size collection, the net range is now available online, and is proving that Boohoo go from strength to strength. This new collection is bigger and continues with the positive impact of the inaugural collection by offering fashion forward, good quality pieces at really affordable prices.

I loved the first collection and reviewed three of those first pieces, they slotted easily into my wardrobe and have been getting lots of wear. I have again been lucky enough to be again asked to review some pieces from the new collection, and this time I decided to venture a little further from my comfort zone in my choices. The first piece I am reviewing is the Evie Mesh Hem Panel Midi Dress.

Now you may be thinking, this is another dress, how is that a departure from my comfort zone? But this is not the sort of dress that I usually go for. It is a loose t-shirt style, slouchy with a 1980s feel, nothing like the figure hugging style I usually wear. In addition, it has a sheer panel that reveals the knees, not generally my most favoured part of my body. But I liked the idea of this dress, the relaxed coolness it seemed to have, and wondered whether any of that coolness would rub off on me?

The first thing I have to say about this dress is that it is the most comfortable dress you will ever wear – like actually going out in a nightshirt. It is roomy – this is a size 18 and it is far too big, even given that the style is meant to be slouchy. By adding a belt I felt more comfortable – without it, it swamped me, but with the belt I achieved a lovely 1980s silhouette with slightly batwing sleeves. I loved this!

DSCN6384[1]I slightly chickened out with the sheer panel as I was wearing this for an evening occasion and it was a little chilly, hence still wearing the nylons! That said, I love the panel, I think it adds a touch of sexiness to the dress, and is the thing that turns this dress (for me at least) into something that is perfectly acceptable for an evening out, as well as for more casual attire. Plus, not being as tall as the model, the sheer panel sat lower on my legs, showing not so much of the dreaded knees.

This dress is a dream to wear, it is a versatile piece, and a real bargain. I will be taking this on my summer hols and throwing it on for over the swimwear, and then wearing it with strappy sandals for evening drinks. This is one dress I recommend adding to your wardrobe this Spring.
