Reviewed – Clarks Aldwych Wood Boots at Cloggs

Since it was founded in 1979. Cloggs has been a great place to find branded shoes and boots at really great prices. Currently it has a fabulous range of shoes for men, women and children from the likes of Fitflop, Birkenstocks, Converse, Joules and, my personal favourite, a range from Clarks that includes shoes from the iconic Clarks Originals. Recently Cloggs got in touch to see if I would be interested in a review post, and of course, the brand I was drawn to immediately was Clarks.

The Clarks Aldwych Boots are truly the best of both worlds. I have an addiction to suede boots, always buying suede when I need new boots. Unfortunately, as pretty and stylish as suede looks, it is not the most practical of fabrics, particularly when faced with a very wet Winter/Spring like we have been this year. (As I write this, it is raining again.). That is why I love the Aldwych boots design, which incorporates a partial suede upper for a style effect, with more practical and durable leather for the rest of the boot. This boot is just gorgeous, and is a perfect match for a couple of Vivienne Westwood bags I currently have my eye on.

The Aldwych Wood is an ankle boot with a chunky 7cm heel. This makes it easy to walk on and perfect for shopping trips or the school run.  I love the durable rubber sole with Cushion Soft layers, it makes the boot extremely comfortable, even for me (I’m currently suffering with a problem ankle so comfort is extra important.) The zip fastening makes these easy to get on and off, and even when new in the box, the zip wasn’t stiff or hard to move. The boots are fairly true to size, I chose a size 5 and would probably have gone for a half size if available, but these are breaking in nicely for me.

Ankle boots are great in that they are possibly the most versatile of looks. I will always pull these on with jeans or trousers as it is a no brainer, they look great and work so well with pretty much any trouser shape. But I also love this particular boot with a skirt or dress, it toughens up the look and can also give Summer dresses a lease of life for Spring, just add opaque tights and these boots.

The Aldwych Wood boots are currently reduced to £36 from £59.99 so you can get a really big saving at the moment, making these a must buy if you are on the look out for a transitional pair of boots that will last right through Spring, and can be picked up again in Autumn.
