This week has been a bit of a milestone when it comes to the weather. This is the week I have dug out my opaque tights, and my ankle boots have come out of hibernation. It has felt distinctly Autumnal, with that sense that Winter is definitely on the way. The mornings have been crisp, the nights have been cold, there hasn’t been that much sunshine, even during the day, and boy, those days are getting shorter and shorter.
So, you may be reaching for your ankle boots, or shopping for a new pair. The great thing about the current designs in ankle boots is that they really do compliment every look and style. Once ankle boots were the footwear that you kept to wear with your jeans or trousers, if you were wearing a skirt or a dress you would opt for your longer, knee high boots, or would wear a pair of shoes instead. But these days, ankle boots add an edge to a dress, particularly if you opt for a spiky heeled style. Lower heels, and Chelsea boot styles, work well with mini skirts, whilst fluffy hug style boots will keep your feet warm and snug no matter how low the mercury on the thermometer drops.
Side zip fastenings, buckles and fringes all add interest to the current crop of boots. Colours are not limited to the classic black, with tan, navy, grey, brown and tan designs are proving to be popular. Heel heights are also varied, I like my boots to have quite a high heel, but smaller Cuban heels, more squared designs and completely flat varieties are also available. It seems that whatever your boot preference, you are bound to find something that you like, that fits and is comfortable enough to wear every day.
Here is my current boot wishlist from House of Fraser.
