Rita Ora joins the judging panel of The Voice

If ever there was a lady who divides fashion, it is Rita Ora. Just this week the singer, who is joining the judging panel of BBC’s ‘The Voice’ tonight, was the reason for 100’s of complaints over the low cut outfit she wore on The One Show, a programme shown well before the watershed. Now the lady is going to become a staple part of Saturday night as she replaces Kylie Minogue as the female judge on ‘The Voice’. It is going to be interesting to see what she wears come the live shows.

I’m a bit of a fan of Rita because I thinks she has so much fun with fashion. Of course, this doesn’t always mean she gets it right, those that take risks often don’t. I’m not completely sure what I thought of her Spanish senorita style dress on the first blind audition of the voice – very dramatic, but also quite ‘costumy’ in my view. But when she gets it right, she does it with some style. I loved her ‘Madonna does Marilyn’ style glamour at the Brit Awards, whilst the Elle style awards have shown, again and again, her love of the dramatic, especially in white Marchesa tulle. She was one of the best dressed at last year’s Grammy Awards in vibrant metallic, whilst I applaud her every single time she opts to wear yellow – surely her best colour.

I think Rita is a breath of fresh air in times when so many stars play it safe with fashion, minimal is not her style and she is all the more interesting because of it. I’m looking forward to enjoying all her hits (and misses) in 2015, and hoping she continues to embrace that yellow (my favourite colour too as it happens.)
