Pearl Lowe continues to bring that Vintage feel to Peacocks.
I was recently lucky enough to have a Twitter conversation with Pearl Lowe, where I was able to tell her how much I loved her feminine, vintage inspired designs for Peacocks. I explained that I was a curvy girl who had virtually lived in one of her designs over the summer, and that I couldn’t believe just how flattering the designs were for those with fuller figures. Pearl explained that she designs dresses that she could wear herself, and so they are made to suit, and indeed enhance girls with curves! So I am over the moon to bring you the story and looks from Pearl’s latest collection for Peacocks,…

Angelica Huston – Style Icon of the New Season!
Without doubt, the most important style icon for the new season is the incomparable Angelic Huston. I first fell in love with Angelica’s style when she played Morticia Adams in the early 1990s. Her sleek Morticia was a dark goddess, with the most perfect cheekbones I had ever seen. I didn’t really know anything about Angelica, other than the fact she had been romantically involved with Jack Nicholson for many years. I knew nothing of her fashion past. Which was truly remiss of me. Because Angelica was one of the most important fashion stars of the 1970s. Shot by the likes of Bailey and Bob Richardson, her face and figure…

BHS present a wonderful, traditional Christmas…in July!
I was lucky enough to be put on the guest list for the BHS Christmas in July press preview last week. This was a real treat for me as BHS is always one of my must visit destinations at Christmas, mainly for its fantastic array of Christmas decorations. But the press preview gave me a great glimpse of the things we will be buying from BHS in the months ahead. And I have to say, there is so much more to the collections that crackers and tinsel! In terms of decorations and trimmings, red and white are definitely the colours. BHS have gone down a traditional route, with lots…

Chelsea Girl returns.
One of my overwhelming memories of being a very young girl was Saturday shopping with my mom in West Bromwich. I remember John Menzies had a great toy department, and that my mom loved a shop called ‘Lady at Lord John’, which just sounded such a cool name. But mainly I remember Chelsea Girl. Situated in the Queens Square, which also had the amazing floor to ceiling fountains, this shop was the most amazing place I had ever been to, still psychedelic looking, with a sign resembling a rainbow,it was a treasure trove to a little girl who already loved fashion. Flash forward to the 1980s, and groovy Chelsea girl, with its…

Style and Champagne – The Harvey Nichols Spring/Summer Fashion Show.
The Mailbox is Birmingham’s most exclusive shopping destination, with Harvey Nichols being arguably its crowning glory. The 1st and 2nd March saw the Harvey Nichols Spring/Summer fashion show, bringing all the glamour of New York, Milan, Paris and London to the second city. Fashion-Mommy took a front row seat to take a peak at the Harvey Nichols take on the key season trends. I was seriously impressed with the styling, staging and atmosphere of the show. The show featured the pick of the new season in both menswear and womenswear. This was then organised neatly into key trends. The show started with ’70s Glamour’, with models wearing a whole range…
