When a loved one has Dementia
One of the most heartbreaking things you can ever face in life is the reality of knowing a loved one had Dementia, and is no longer the person you know and love. Trying to cope with the fact, and choosing the right thing to do for both you, your wider family, and the person living with the dementia is difficult, with the care and safety of the sufferer being paramount, but trying to balance that with the feeling of guilt if you have to admit you can’t cope alone is hard and painful. I speak from experience. It is now 18 years since my grandmother died at the age of…

The best in double and twin pushchairs
I used to (quite foolishly) believe that double and twin pushchairs were solely for those who had twin babies, and weren’t really of interest to anyone else. But recently, a friend who has had two children in very quick succession, put me right on this. If you have two children under the age of three, a twin buggy is an absolute must, because there is no way you will be able to carry one tired toddler whilst trying to push another around in a pushchair. What are your most treasured family possessions?
What are your most treasured family possessions? I’m sure if I asked my seven year old son that question he would immediately say his play station, or his rather huge collection of football kits. But, as an adult, possessions that can easily be replaced are not so high up on the agenda when it comes to our treasures. We value and treasure the things that may be much harder to replace, the things passed down from loved ones who may no longer be here, the presents and trinkets picked up on a special holiday that are pretty worthless to anyone else, but mean the world to us. And of course,…

Never forget again with the ‘Must Remember That’ App
In our busy modern lives, we seem to have more and more things to remember. From birthdays, important work meetings, appointments and family and friend dates, we can often fill a diary or a notice board twice over. Add in special dates concerning our children and their schools (and my lad has a busier social calendar than I do with football matches, Birthday parties, school events and sports training), and you would have to have a mind of an elephant not to forget some of these things, leading to some embarrassing moments. That’s why I am so pleased with the ‘Must Remember that’ app, which supports the website you can…

Afternoon tea with Santa at Wyevale Garden Centre
Meeting Santa has moved on a little from 5 minutes in a tacky grotto. Now, thanks to Wyevale Garden Centres, you can actually enjoy an afternoon tea and some quality time with the man in the red suit. We were invited along to the Wolseley Bridge branch to enjoy the festivities and to have a chat with Santa ahead of his upcoming busy night. Wolseley Bridge garden centre looked like a wonderful winter wonderland on arrival, with pretty lit up trees, Christmas music and a rather adorable magical unicorn on the route to the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, a special area had been roped off that caused much excitement for…
