Deck the Halls with John Lewis this Christmas
I have a family tradition when it comes to Christmas. The 1st December is dedicated to putting up the Christmas tree and ‘decking the halls’ throughout my house. And although I choose an artificial tree so do not replace this every year, I do insist on buying new decorations to add to my already burgeoning collection – tree decorations, things to decorate the mantlepieces, new candles and a whole host of other items that just catch my eyes when I’m out and about. This year, my eyes have been drawn to the Christmas home and decoration range from John Lewis. In particular I love the way that the tree decorations have…

Reviewed – Roller blinds from Blinds Supermarket
I’m in the middle of house renovations at the present time. In the last year I have revamped my bathroom and transformed my little boys bedroom from a nursery into an abode fit for a transport loving youngster. I have also had new windows throughout the house, in an attempt to restore some of the Victorian styled period features that fit the mood of a house built in 1898. Handmade Boutique finds a permanent home in Great Western Arcade
In the run up to Christmas last year, Birmingham gained a new pop-up gift emporium that promised a break from the mainstream and mass produced. Handmade boutique, the brainchild of Tracie Bedwood, offered unique, quirky, handmade gifts and products from a range of local artisans and crafts people, with price points that ranged from pocket money to affordable luxury. Handmade Boutique was a huge success and one which most were sad close once Christmas came. But now Handmade Boutique is back, and this time it is in a permanent home. Birmingham’s Beautiful Great Western Arcade is the new home of the boutique, which has seen some designers returning, and has…

Springtime – The perfect time for Home Improvements
As regular readers of the Fashion-Mommy blog know, my son Joe is now 4 years old. And after a couple of years when he seemed hellbent on wrecking every area of the house, he has now calmed down. No more drawing on the walls (well, not that often anyway), no more pouring lunch and dinner all over the floor, and finally, sleeping in his own bed. And that means I think the time has come to make a start on some of the home improvements we had been putting off until Joe was a little older. Starting with turning our master bedroom back into a boudoir and sanctuary. Now, the…

Selfridges Homewares Sale – find your Domestic Goddess
Nobody would ever accuse me of being a goddess of domesticity, I can hardly find my way around a can opener, could burn water, and only watch cookery programmes so I can shout things at the telly like ‘Who has all that in their cupboards?’ or ‘What is All Spice?’ or even ‘Ghost Chilli – are they making this up?’ But even with all this in mind, I do love a gorgeous kitchen that is just gleaming with gorgeous appliances. Which is why I totally love the current Selfridges homewares sale. This is full of the sorts of fantastic appliances that could be classed as design classics, with famous names…
