Beauty Review – Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate

In August I attended a special Bloggers event held by the Bullring, and I was introduced to a product that was not actually hitting stores until later that month. The product was from Kiehl’s – a brand I totally love, and it promised to do all sorts of wonderful things to the appearance of the skin. I was totally desperate to try this product out, and, I have to say, after doing so, I’ve not been disappointed.

The product was the Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturising Serum Concentrate. This is a serum that promises to improve the overall appearance of skin’s plumpness, while smoothing the look of fine lines and skin texture. As I’ve now hit 40, looking after my skin has grown in importance, I can see the tiredness that creeps into the skin, the lines that once upon a time I couldn’t even dream of, so a product that promises to address this is one that was well worth a try.

The serum is not the cheapest item around (£40 for a 50ml bottle), but you only need to use a single, small pump to do your whole face and neck so this will last for quite a long time. The texture is lovely as it is not oily, so you can apply it and then put make-up over the top, but I preferred to keep this for evening use, so it could work whilst I was sleeping. My skin absorbed it very quickly – a bonus as I hate my face to feel sticky from skincare products.

My main skin problems relate to hydration, and this is something that this serum has definitely addressed. My skin is smoother, and it feels softer, particularly around the extremities, which are often dry to the touch and quite rough feeling. I also noticed that my skin looks a little brighter too – I often tend towards reddish patches on my cheeks when the summer tan fades, and this seems to be correcting – making me a very happy lady.

I would totally recommend this product, and, as it is Black Friday, now might be a fab time to try it with 20% off at Selfridges.

Reviewed – Kiehls Creme de Corps Whipped in Grapefruit

Sometimes our body just needs to be pampered. Our skin gets tired and dry, damaged by cold days, lack of sunshine and just life in general. If that all seems to be talking to you and your skin at the moment, I have just had the opportunity to test-drive the perfect product for you – Kiehls latest creme de corps whipped body butter, the latest limited edition from Kiehls.

I am a huge fan of Kiehls, I think their body products are second to none, they always seem to soften and nourish the skin, so when I heard there were some new flavours in the classic creme de corps range, I was eager to try them for myself. Kiehls very kindly sent me the grapefruit fragrance in the new cream, and I have been trialling this for  three weeks to see what effect it has on my skin.

Kiehls creme de corps promises an air whipped texture that should leave the skin with a smooth, silky finish. In addition it also claims to leave your skin soft and hydrated for 24 hours. These make it the perfect cream for busy moms who simply want to apply it and then forget about it.

The first thing you notice about the cream is the thickness, this is a genuinely thick body butter that straight away suggests something luxurious for your skin – a real treat.  As with most Kiehls products, a little goes a long way, a teaspoon sized amount of cream did both legs comfortably, so this is a product that will last.

The cream absorbs into the body surprisingly quickly when you consider the thickness and skin is left feeling really smooth and soft. I also rubbed it into my hands to get my hubbies opinion, and he noticed how much softer the skin felt. Due to the Jojoba and my fave miracle product, Shea Butter, there is true moisturisation of the skin, I often suffer patches of dry skin in winter and I could see and feel a noticeable difference with using this daily.

And of course, I couldn’t write a review of this without mentioning the gorgeously fruity scent. I loved the Grapefruit, it is such a fresh scent, and I love the fact that although it isn’t overpowering, it does linger, and you can still smell it on your skin as the day progresses. There are other limited edition fragrances available in this range at the moment, including Coriander and Soy Milk and Honey. These are all currently available at Selfridges.

Reviewed – Kiehls Creme de Corps Ltd Edition

As we get ever closer to Christmas, our fave beauty brands really up their game, producing new formulations, limited edition scents and variations on festive packaging. It is always exciting to see how our favourite products will be revamped before they hit Santa’s sack.

One of my favourite brands, Kiehls, has taken some of its hero products and repackaged them with a distinctly starry Christmas feel. Using a gorgeous red label emblazoned with a graffiti style background print and festive stars, the Kiehls holiday labels have been especially designed by the iconic New York graffiti artist Eric Haze. It goes without saying that the bottles and jars will look amazing on your bathroom or bedroom shelf. And of course, the products inside are just fabulous.

My hero product, the creme de la creme of body creams, is the classic formula of the ‘creme de corps‘. This is the use all the time, every day  body lotion product. It is one that suitable for most skin types, but is particularly good for dry skin, especially on areas like knees and elbows that are prone to dryness. I am a huge fan of this product for so many reasons. It absorbs into the skin very easily, due to the lightness of the formulation, and skin is left feeling super soft and nourished, but, and this is something that is very important if you are applying before leaving for work, or a night out, this is non-greasy, so you are not left feeling sticky.

The scent is sweet and clean-smelling, but not overpowering or over-perfumed.  With essential natural ingredients like Beta-Carotene and nurturing oils like Almond Oil and Kernal Oil, you know that you are putting something nourishing and protective on your skin, something that will help protect from the worst of natures ravages as we move further into the winter season.

Kiehls Creme De Corps makes a perfect gift for beauty and skincare lovers this Christmas. It is available at House of Fraser for £27.00 for 250ml.
