Bethanie Mattek Sands – The lady Gaga of Wimbledon
Just when you thought you’d never hear Lady Gaga and Wimbledon mentioned in the same sentence, up popped Bethanie Mattek Sands. The American No 2 tennis player is the self-proclaimed Lady Gaga of tennis. And whilst she didn’t last that long in the championship, she certainly brightened the staid tournament up with her unique fashion sense. At the pre tournament bash, she sported an outfit that can only be described as interesting. In bright neon green, and with a matching headdress, Bethanie made sure all eyes were on her. Decorated with tennis balls, the dress was designed by Alex Noble, who has also designed clothes for…wait for it…Lady Gaga. Then,…

Cannes style – Looks that really should’ve been ‘canned’.
Cannes Film festival -Oh the sheer glamour of it all. But not all the looks are as flawless and perfect as those that have been worn by Diane Kruger and Tilda Swinton. Some, in fact should’ve been canned before the star/starlet let the house. Here are a few of those looks that had me shaking my head and wondering WHY? 1. Salma Hayak in leather Gucci. Phillip Treacy – Mad hatter or Millinery Genius?
If there was one person who faced criticism in the aftermath of the Royal Wedding, it was Philip Treacy. The Milliner to the stars created almost 40 hats and fascinators for the occasion, with some being better received than others. And none were ridiculed more than the creations worn by the Royal Princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie. Poor Beatrice’s hat has been compared to everything from an upturned toilet seat to a Telletubby, even gaining its own Facebook page, ‘Princess Beatrice’s ridiculous hat page. Beatrice is a big fan of Treacy, and has worn his creations in the past, often with the same ridicule, like when she wore the unusual butterfly…

Grammys fashion – good, bad and just insane!
Sunday night was a very busy night in the awards calendar. As well as the Baftas, The Grammys were also taking place, albeit on the other side of the Atlantic and in much better weather. The Grammys are renowned for interesting style choices, and this year was no exception. There were angel wings, extreme animal prints and Lady Gaga arriving in an egg! But there were also some absolutely stunning looks on display, along with some plain bad ones. Here they are in all their glory… The Good. Nicole Kidman has had mixed reactions for her style choices lately, but her beautiful mermaid style floral dress from Jean Paul Gaultier…

Why fashion won’t forget Alexander McQueen.
In the midst of the glamour and hustle of London Fashion week, the fashion community turned out to remember one of their own. Yesterday, a service of remembrance was held to celebrate and remember the life of Lee ‘Alexander’ McQueen, who took his own life earlier this year. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Daphne Guinness and Anna Wintour were amongst those attending the memorial service to the tragic maverick genius, whose designs elicited a stream of strong emotions amongst fashion critics. Some loved them, even uncompromising collections like ‘Highland Rape’, with its mixture of rough Scottish tartan and lace creations. Isabella Blow, the eccentric, and ultimately tragic fashionista,…
