Caro Emerald – Style Queen
When I look at my blog stats at the end of each month, there is always one post that sticks out, a post that consistently gets massive viewing figures despite being almost 2 years old. That post is all about the amazing singer, and, in my eyes at the very least, style icon, Caro Emerald. Caro Emerald demands your attention in so many ways. A statuesque, utterly curvy goddess, Caro has a style that is more akin to Old Hollywood than modern-day diva’s like Jessie J and Rihanna. The Dutch singer has a retro style that is glamorous, intoxicating and just a little dangerous, looking like a cross between a…

The SAG Awards – Pick of the dresses
And the awards bandwagon rolls on. This time it was the SAG awards, which, traditionally, is a slightly more dressed down affair than the Golden Globes and The Oscars. On this occasion though, there were some really nice dresses, although nothing that would actually make you gasp. Very bright or black and white seemed to be the order of the night, although there were some notable additions of sparkle from Helen Hunt and a sizzling Naomi Watts. Here are some of the key trends, the style winners and losers from a glamorous night. Glamorous Sparkle Naomi Watts was a definite contender for best dressed. Wearing a silver strapless sheath from…

Style Icons – Two Kates – Moss and Upton
Kate Middleton hasn’t been the only Kate making fashion waves this year. Two model Kate’s have also made waves in the world of fashion, albeit of different varieties. Both Kate Moss and Kate Upton have proven that blondes still have more fun, and have both featured on Vogue front covers. But whereas Moss remains the cover girls all others aspire to be, Kate Upton has frankly divided opinions. Should the former Sports Illustrated Model be an editorial cover girl at all, least of all on the cover of Vogue. Isn’t the gorgeous blonde more cheesecake than High fashion? The debates have raged. Personally. I loved seeing Kate Upton on…

Doris Day – forgotten style icon?
One of the nicest things about taking a little time to chill over the Christmas period has been the opportunity to catch up on some television. I was delighted to see that one of my favourite channels, BBC 4, was dedicating some time to look at Hollywood Goddesses, the icons that still light up our screens today. Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Clara Bow were the main focus, but I was also really excited to see a documentary about one of my favourite stars, Doris Day. I grew up loving Doris Day. My mom had a real love of her films, from ‘By the light of the Silvery…

Style Icons of the Year Pt 1 – Nicole Scherzinger
I didn’t expect to like her, in fact, I was fully expecting to hate her when she was announced as the X Factor 4th judge, but Nicole Scherzinger totally won me over on the X Factor this year and became one of my new style crushes in 2012. Nicole is so beautiful, she looks ‘Schermazing’ in just about everything, but she is also warm, quirky and a whole lots of fun. She also proved to be an excellent mentor, with two of her acts making the final, and James Arthur crowned the eventual, and much deserved winner. I actually thought Nicole had a shaky style in her wardrobe choices, hating…
