Five fashion eras in one month.
July is turning out to be an interesting month style wise, not least because it is the month when retro styling is embracing so many different eras. Just flicking through some magazines and trawling websites I was amazed to see celebs wearing a range of great looks that span from the 1950s right up to the 1990s. Have a look through these and see if agree that for July 2011, anything goes. 1950s – Kelly Brook in Ischia Not always a fan of her sometimes cartoonish look, but I absolutely adore this 1950s style print sundress. This is so Roman Holiday, and I love the clashing print of her Gucci…

Enjoy a Vintage feast at Pavillions.
If, like Fashion-Mommy, you are a bit of a vintage magpie, then I have some dates for your diary. On Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June, vintage is coming to the Pavillions, Birmingham. The fabulous City Centre destination will be hosting a vintage Fair that weekend, playing host to 60 stores that will be selling a whole host of items, from craft to couture, designer finds to real vintage bargains. The event will take place from 9.30am until 6.00pm on the Saturday, and 11.00am until 5.00pm on the Sunday, and entrance is absolutely FREE. I think this is a fabulous idea and love the Vargas style posters that are being…

Designer Vintage Bridal Show – Oh! To be a bride…Pt 3.
I was totally enthralled with the exhibitors at the Designer vintage wedding show – the beautiful dresses, exquisite flowers, amazing jewellery and millinery, so I now took a little bit of time to do some people watching. The glamorous brides-to-be had dressed up for the occasion with acres of vintage lace, corsages, glittering beaded headbands and pearls on display. There were 50s style polka dots and prints, 1940s era chintz floral prints, nipped in waistbands, fake fur coats and platform heeled shoes, all worn with the excited glow only a prospective bride can have. There was the dulcet tones of Frank Sinatra drifting across the main hall. This sound was…

Designer Vintage Bridal Show – Oh! To be a bride…Pt 1.
This weekend, Highbury Hall has been the venue for the most glamorous, chic wedding show that Birmingham has ever hosted. The inaugural ‘Designer Vintage Wedding Show’, had sparkling style, vintage chic and sumptuous wedding gowns in an amazing setting. Imagine a trip through time to an Agatha Christie era country pile, where the elegant guests are treated to pots of Earl Grey in delicate bone china cups, and slices of the most mouth-watering layer cake, whilst being entertained by a string quartet. On retiring to you room, after enjoying a selection of 78s being played on an original gramophone, you find your bedroom filled with the most glorious selection of…

The Birmingham Designer Vintage Bridal show
This is all set to be the year of the wedding, with no less than three Royal weddings, including the much-anticipated nuptials of William and Kate. Add into the mix the rock and roll wedding of Kate Moss, and it very much seems as if getting that special piece of paper is very much in vogue. But many brides seem to be looking to the past for their wedding inspiration. Dresses that come from a bygone era, whether actual vintage, or vintage inspired, are becoming extremely popular as brides-to-be seek that perfect look that reflects their own, unique personality. Transportation on the big day is no longer just a Rolls…
