4th Office – Making flexible working a reality
An interesting post on the Freelancers Union website today talks about why so many women are choosing to work freelance. Sara Horowitz states that:- “…Even more than our male counterparts, our lives play out in stages that don’t fit well with a corporate world dominated by men. By our 30s, many women are starting families and struggling with taking time away from the office. By our forties, we’re often hitting the glass ceiling in terms of pay and promotions. By our fifties and sixties, unfortunately, we’re often being ignored altogether…” (Read full piece here.) This was certainly true for me. Starting a family in my thirties, combined with health issues…

30 wardrobe updates for under £30
Now we are firmly ensconced in the month of March, and with Mother’s Day celebrations out of the way, it is the time to give that wardrobe a Spring makeover. And whilst I’m not saying you should be packing away those jumpers just yet (it is still rather cold if we’re honest.), we can start to think about adding new pieces to our looks that could be classed as transitional. Gourmet Burger Kitchen Grill Warming
Last night, my family and I were very lucky to attend the grill warming at Gourmet Burger Kitchen in The Mailbox, Birmingham. The restaurant had been closed for a period of time for a £350,000 exterior and interior refurbishment, and opens officially today (Friday 13th March). The Grill Warming was an opportunity to check out the new improvements in decor, whilst trying out the delicious menu. I have to say, we had a fantastic time. The restaurant was buzzing with atmosphere, with the new decor featuring dark wood paneling and gorgeous antique effect lighting giving the whole place a retro feel that was warm and inviting. I loved the monkey…

Mother’s Day – a time for memories
I love Mother’s day, it is a time to spoil and pamper my lovely mother, and now, with a beautiful boy of my own, I get spoiled too. In fact, he presented me with a lovely bear he had chosen last week, he was just too excited to wait. (He also told me that he had actually wanted to get me a big fat duck, but his dad had (thankfully) said no. Cue me giggling like a fool for ages afterwards.) But even though Mother’s day is a day of joy and happiness, there is a sadness to the day too, for someone is missing from the celebrations. My mother-in-law…

Perfect Sapphire Jewellery at Angara.com
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had an intense penchant for Sapphires. I think it may be linked to my style crush on Diana, Princess of Wales, who was the epitome of a fairy tale princess, and wore an enormous sapphire engagement ring on her finger. My first proper ring was a gift from my grandparents. It was a small blue sapphire that I wore with love until my finger grew big and the the piece was consigned to my jewellery box. Recently I’ve started wearing it on a chain around my neck, and have been looking at some sapphire pendants that are available at Angara.com. ‘The Gemstone…
