Next – Customise your denim
The word ‘customise’ fills me with dread, I’m not that handy with a needle and thread….. I love fashion, every single element of it, but my own skills with a needle and thread are amateur, scrap that, infantile to say the least. So when Next approached me to see if I would like to take part in a special customisation challenge I was both excited and terrified, especially as the competition was being judged by someone who really does have a talent for customising and personalising clothing, Kirsty from Fashion For Lunch. But a challenge is a challenge, so I decided to have a go…be kind to me. The…

King Charles lll reigns supreme at the Birmingham Rep
If Shakespeare was alive in the 21st century, and was thinking of expanding his history plays, he would have come up with King Charles lll, which is currently playing at the Birmingham Rep. Billed as a future history play, this play has all those Shakespearean elements, a central character who loves a good sollilique, ghostly spectres and a cunning, manipulative royal Duchess to rival Lady Macbeth. King Charles lll is a powerful piece of theatre where the lines are blurred between good and bad and right and wrong. It is frankly unmissable. Veteran actor Robert Powell takes the lead as the new King Charles lll, finally ascending to the throne,…

Brantano’s Walk to school for charity campaign
My son has returned to school today, after a very long, but amazingly fun. school holiday. So it seems only fitting that one of today’s posts should be linked to going back to school in some way, and Brantano’s partnership with road safety charity Brake, is definitely something worth shouting about. Brantano, famed for their high quality, low cost shoes, have been doing some research into how children get to and from school. Their research has shown that only a third of children and parents regularly walk to and from school every week. One of the reasons given for this was that was that many parents feel the route between…

Fabulous looks from the Venice Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival is less well known than the ultra glamorous Cannes, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a visual treat for fashion lovers. It puts the style into September, and this year’s festival is no exception. With Grand Jury members including the impeccable Diane Kruger, Elizabeth Banks and Paz Vega, and attendees like Alessandra Ambrosio, Dakota Johnson, Elisa Sednaoui and Tilda Swinton, Venice is an event that has fashion fans swooning over both the daytime, and red carpet looks. I have been trawling through the images from the festival ( a really tough task…lol!) and have collated my favourite looks from the festival so far. They include Elizabeth…

Christian Louboutin lipsticks launch at Selfridges
First it was the shoes that made grown women drool like babies. Sleek, skyscraper heels with an unmistakable red sole. Next it was the nail polish, in that same shade of deep rouge, with packaging that just screamed glamour and decadence. Now Christian Louboutin has expanded his beauty line by adding lipstick to the range. The collection has 36 shades, and is now available at Selfridges. The soon to be iconic Louboutin Lipstick collection comes in three types: Silky Satin, Velvet Matte, and Sheer Voile.
