Occasion wear at Quiz Clothing
Yesterday I received my first invitation to an event that I describe as part of summer season. It is for a ladies day lunch and seasonal style and fashion show and is being hosted at Birmingham’s Botanical gardens, and will call for a knockout dress. This invite is sure to be followed by invites to ‘Ladies Day’ events at the races and the tennis, any number of wedding invites and generally for events that call for occasion wear. So the question is, what to wear? Fashion-Mommy does Ladies Day and Weddings I have a few go-to shops when it comes to occasion wear, but have recently discovered a new one.…

Mr Frosty is back!
When I was a child, there was one toy that everyone wanted to receive at Christmas, or for their birthday, and that was Mr Frosty. The child-friendly ice crushing machine was made for long hot summers, leaving you able to make a range of slushies, drinks and ice lollies. Unfortunately, I never received one despite putting it on my Christmas list year after year, but now Mr Frosty is back for the 21st century, new and improved, and actually offering healthier options – no more sugary syrup! Flair are behind the relaunch of the iconic toy, and they have made some changes that fit more with a 21st century…

The Body Shop VIP event with the Bloggers Parlour
Last Thursday I popped along to The Body Shop on Birmingham’s New Street to attend my first event with the Bloggers Parlour. It was a fabulous night of beauty, games and cocktails in a beautiful store that has just been refurbished and looks, quite frankly, amazing. The Bloggers Parlour organise blogger events in the Midlands, trying to offer something a little different in terms of activities and opportunities. Social media plays a big part of the events, with lots of opportunities to win spot prizes through sharing photographs on Twitter and Facebook, and using the #Bloggersparlour hashtag as often as possible. There were also opportunities to be creative – choosing…

Flower Power from Wallis
This post is inspired by the beautiful weather we are having at the moment…and Helen McCrory. Bright, sunshine weather always makes me turn to the pretty floral pieces I have in my wardrobe, it just seems so apt to be wearing something floaty and pretty when the days are fine and warm. Thus my first influence is quite easily explained. The second is the fabulous actress Helen McCrory. I honestly can’t think of an actress who does florals on the red carpet quite as wonderfully as Helen. Last night she rocked up at the Television BAFTA’s in a stunning orange, floral print dress that was both classic in terms of…

Have you considered tuition for your child?
Giving your children the best education possible has become a bit of a minefield. Schools being transformed into academies, long waiting lists for the best state schools and new controversy of Year 2 and Year 6 Sats testing all mean that parents are often in a confused state when it comes to offering their children the best chance in terms of schooling. The general unease when it comes to education has seen a rise in the popularity of private tuition. These companies cover all bases when it comes to tuition and coaching, from swotting for a particular entrance exam, to gaining a little extra support in a specific subject, be…
