Great British Christmas Sparkle at Boden
Well the party season is now in full swing, and, if you’re diary is anything like mine, you’re actually looking forward to having a little bit of relaxing time over the Christmas break. But, before you get to that point, it may well be party central. There are work parties, dates with friends, a girls night out, trips to the panto, the theatre, family meals…need I go on. You may well have all your wardrobe sorted for your numerous events and outings, but if you are still looking for something to wear on Christmas day, or New Year’s Eve, this is actually the best time to pick something up, as…

The final Downton Fashion feast
The curtain finally falls on Downton Abbey on Christmas Day, with millions of fans already mourning its departure. Many will miss Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary, Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith, and the inimitable Maggie Smith and her acerbic one liners. But if I am brutally honest, what I will miss most is the frocks and fashion. Downton started just before World War One, but the most recent series have been set in the roaring twenties, when hemlines were raised, waists were dropped along with not so few inhibitions. The 1920s is a fashion era that was truly revolutionary, especially for women, and it remains both fascinating and iconic for…

Creating a living space in your garden
It has to be said that I have seen a lot of Santa since November began. I have already visited three grotto’s, with another visit to come on Sunday. And while the quality of Santa impersonation can be variable to say the least, the Log Cabins which have doubled as grotto’s and workshops have been pretty impressive, feeling warm, cosy and very festive. But why should Santa have all the fun when it comes to log Cabins? If you have a larger garden, these buildings are actually a great way to add more living space to your home by utilising the outside area. They can be as small or as…

The best Christmas present ever
What is your best Christmas present ever? Currys have recently been asking this question and have come up with a list of the top ten greatest gifts of all time. These include the most expensive, which is apparently artwork that Roman Abramovich presented to his then future wife Dasha Zhukova (more than 61 million natch), and the most Romantic (David Beckham and a Bulgari necklace). You can view the complete list of the greatest, most expensive, most unusual, and even the most ridiculous gifts here. But I have to say my most wonderful gift was a Christmas surprise that money just couldn’t buy. My most precious, wonderful Christmas present is…

Penwizard Personalise Perfect Christmas Books
I’ve got a confession to make, I’m a secret Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom fan (although not quite so secret now come to think of it.) I actually think it is one of the funniest kids programmes currently on the television, one of those that works on different levels so they appeal to kids and make adults laugh too. Nanny Plum is a total hoot, King Thistle is like every grouchy dad you will ever meet, and Big Bad Barry is a total legend in our house. Ben and Holly used to be one of Joe’s favourite programmes, and now my beautiful niece Renee is addicted to it, watching it…
