Teal Square Shutter Dress from Wallis
My party season officially started last week when I enjoyed my first Christmas dinner at MPW in the Cube, Birmingham (You can read my review of that here.) MPW is a sophisticated setting and so it was the perfect place to try out a gorgeous cocktail dress that the lovely people at Wallis had very kindly sent me. This was the teal square shutter dress, and it proved to be the perfect look and fit. I am a huge fan of Wallis dresses, which I think have the right level of style and sophistication for women who are most definitely not teenagers. The teal shutter dress is a perfect example…

My Selfridges Wish List
You know how it is. You see what you would love your other (better?) half to give you on December 25th. You drop all the hints, leave the magazines and catalogues open at the appropriate page, pause and rewind the advert when it comes on the TV, and then, on December 25th you rip open that parcel, and sigh at the fluffy slippers, or the oh so practical food mixer, or even (heaven forbid) Dyson that has appeared in your stocking. If any of the above sounds familiar, and fills you with dread, Selfridges may have the answer you have been looking for. You can create the simplest of wish…

Christmas comes to MPW in The Cube
Christmas came a little early to Birmingham’s iconic Cube building, when Marco Pierre White’s popular restaurant hosted a ‘White Christmas’ tasting event, treating bloggers and food writers to a glamorous evening of Champagne, turkey and crackers, as well as what must be the most breathtaking view in Birmingham. The restaurant is getting ready to launch its festive set menu, which will be available to parties of 10 or more people. In addition, this was an opportunity to showcase the private dining suite, which, with glass on three sides of the room, offers those exquisite views that MPW is quite rightly famous for. We started the evening with Champagne in the…

Loving House of Fraser Homewares
I took a little trip to Birmingham last week, and ended up in House of Fraser, which I have to say is one of my favourite department stores. I love to linger in the Beauty department, and also have a real love for the Biba clothing section. But I never really spend much time in the home wares section if I’m being really honest. So, trying to waste a little time whilst I waited for my mom and sister to arrive, I made my way up to the 4th floor… instantly fell in love! There were just so many things that I wanted to buy. From Wedgewood Christmas decorations to…

20 party dresses under £30
Party season is almost upon us, and as those invites drop onto the mat (or Inbox – I know, it is the 21st Century), we can get those mixed feelings of excitement, and worry, with that aged old question of ‘what I am going to wear?’ starting to sink in. The problem is, party season can be a very expensive game. It is great if you are going to lots of different parties with lots of different people, you can just wear the same dress and change the accessories and nobody is any the wiser. But what about if you are going to lots of parties with the same people?…
