Kate the Great…and for once I don’t mean Middleton!
According to all reports, this week has seen the double Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet turning into a super hero. Kate was a guest at the Necker home of Richard Branson when fire broke out following a tropical storm. Kate helped to clear the house of all the people present, and apparently helped save Richard Branson’s ninety-year old mother. I frankly adore Kate. She’s an amazing, luminous actress with talent in spades. She’s beautiful, but in a natural, rather than over glossed way. And I totally adore her personal style. So, in tribute to Kate, who has just added Super-hero to that already impressive resume, here are some of my favourite…

Bree Van De Kamp – A television Style Icon.
And so Desperate Housewives is to end. The series, which relaunched Terri Hatcher and made a star of Eva Longaria has finally been axed, after it was decided that enough serial killers, accidental killers, child snatchers and people with secrets had moved into one suburban street, particularly one with a name as pretty as Wysteria Lane. I stopped watching quite a while back, but still think that we should mourn the passing of a true TV style icon, Bree Van De Kamp, as played by the gorgeous Marcia Cross. Zara Phillips makes a stunning and modern bride.
This month started with a rather dodgy royal wedding in Monaco, but ended with an utterly charming one in Edinburgh. Zara Phillips today wed her rugby star fiance Mike Tindall at the beautiful Canongate Kirk in Scotland, and she looked absolutely amazing. Zara opted for an off-the-peg dress, rather than a bespoke creation. The dress was by Stewart Parvin, and was a simple yet elegant design of ivory satin and tulle. It featured a concealed corset and had a bell-shaped skirt. She wore this with a neat chignon in her hair and the Meander tiara, with its distinctive Greek key design. This tiara belongs to her mother Princess Anne, so…

Amy Winehouse.
I was devastated to hear about the tragic and untimely death of Amy Winehouse today at the far too young age of 27. I saw Amy perform live in 2007 and she was truly amazing – an iconic talent with a style and voice that was truly unique. Back to Black is my favourite album, one I listen to when happy(Tears dry on their own is so uplifting) or sad (is there a more poignant song than Love is a loosing game?). I followed Amy’s story in the hope that it might have a happy ending, but it was not to be. It would be easy to remember the dishevelled…
