Reviewed – AX Paris Laser Cut PU Scallop Skirt
I must confess, I haven’t worn a leather, or leather look skirt since I was 20. The last one I wore was a black leather pencil skirt that I got from Camden Market, wore a few times, and then retired, thinking I looked like a watered down version of a Midlands Joan Jett – so not a good look. But earlier this month, whilst browsing the AX Paris curve collection choosing a piece to review, I spotted the Laser Cut PU scallop skirt. This was a leather look skirt with a difference. Forget thigh skimming pelmets, or ultra tight tubes, this skirt was demure and modest, almost 1950s in shape.…

The Harvey Nichols Birmingham Spring fashion show is just around the corner, and has proved such a success that this season it will be bigger and better than ever before. Harvey Nichols Birmingham unveils nostalgic windows
In these days when we seem to be loosing so much of our High Street Heritage, many of us are wallowing in the nostalgia of the Golden Age of the High street and the birth of the department store. We’ve seen the BBC series The Paradise and ITV’s Mr Selfridge, each gaining viewers enthralled by the beauty of the Department stores. And now, the iconic Harvey Nichols store based in Birmingham’s Mailbox has again unveiled a jaw dropping display of window dressing, transforming the facade of the store into a beautiful row of 1950s shop fronts. I think this is my favourite ever Harvey Nichols display, the pastel shades and…

An Interview with Philip Armstrong and Tony Burke Armstrong
Last Friday night was a huge night for Birmingham fashion. Harvey Nichols, in the fabulous Mailbox, hosted a very special fashion show that showcased the amazing talent of the label Philip Armstrong. I was lucky enough to be able to grab a bit of time after the show with Philip and Tony Burke Armstrong, the creative force behind the label, and to ask them a few questions. They proved to be friendly, approachable and funny – as gorgeous as their designs. Q. You are famous for dressing celebrities, which celebrity have you most enjoyed working with? A. Alesha Dixon, she’s a real style icon. A lot of designers aspire to…

Harvey Nichols, Birmingham Blogger Event – Food and fashion!
Last Saturday saw the latest Harvey Nichols, Birmingham Blogger event. Always an unmissable event on the Brum social calender, this one promised amazing food, fab fashion and a touch of beauty, as the bloggers were treated to previews of the Harvey Nichols restaurant menu, Christmas food treats and of course, a presentation of the key fashion trends. The event started in the Harvey Nichols cafe, where we were able to sample some of the delights from the new menu. There were a range of salads, gorgeous roast beef and horse radish sandwiches which I just loved (the horse radish was just so peppery – fabulous), and my personal favourite, haddock…
