    The Brits – best dressed

The Brit awards were just a little bit boring and predictable weren’t they. How I longed for the rock n roll of Jarvis Cocker, Ron Wood and Brandon Block, or even Geri Halliwell in that Union Jack tea towel. The right people won the awards, James Corden did a pretty decent job, but it was all a little bit safe. Still, there were some great fashion looks to admire. Here are my faves. Get the Look The ageless goddess that is Kylie Minogue chose a beautiful Grecian style dress by Yves St Laurent. With its nod to Halston it had just enough disco for the Brits. Kylie showed that her…

Grammy fashion – Who made the grade.

The Grammy’s is always interesting in fashion terms  (who could ever forget Gaga arriving in an egg?), but this year there was a sombre cloud hanging over the proceedings, following the death, just hours earlier, of Grammy winning superstar Whitney Houston. But the show did go on, and there was one undoubted winner on the night, both in the music and style stakes. Adele looked so beautiful in a Giorgio Armani black shimmering gown, with long sleeves and a slightly low back. Her hair was lighter and fixed in 1950s movie star waves. She was perfection, and swept the board with six Grammy wins out of six. Rihanna also wore…

    Whitney Houston – 1963-2012

And so, once again, that which the God’s give, they take away. This could never be more true than in the death of Whitney Houston, a goddess of a woman with the true voice of an angel who has died at the age of 48. I loved Whitney from those early days of ‘Saving all my love for you’, a song I still belt out when home alone. She was frankly the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. An ex model, she was a cleaner and classier alternative to Madonna, and had a voice that was powerful, melodic and could bring you to tears. Who hasn’t danced at a…

Stella’s fragrant tribute to Linda launches exclusively at Selfridges

They were one of music’s most iconic couples, the New York photographer and one-quarter of the most famous band in the world.  But in the world of Sex, drugs and rock and roll, the love of Paul McCartney and Linda Eastman was destined to be that rare thing, a romance that stood the test of time. And now, almost 14 years after Linda died from Cancer, her daughter Stella has launched a fragrant tribute to her parents love, L.I.L.Y, a beautiful eau de parfum that has launched exclusively at Selfridges this month. L.I.L.Y was Paul’s nickname for Linda, the letters standing for Linda, I love you. Lily of the Valley was also…

    Gaultier’s Amy Winehouse tribute

It has upset Mitch Winehouse, but I think that Jean Paul Gaultier’s couture collection for Spring 2012  is a fitting fashion tribute to Amy. Full of models sporting Amy beehives and dressed in clothes that echoed her inimitable style, this is a collection that inspired by and celebrating Amy at her gorgeous peak, sassy, sexy and glamorous. “I think Amy Winehouse was truly a fashion icon,” Gaultier says of the troubled star, who was found dead in July aged just 27. I totally agree with Gaultier. Amy oozed unique personal style and that is something that has had a profound influence on the way girls dress. Her collections for Fred Perry…
