Altuzarra revivies the Grunge Glamour of 90s Mossy.
It seems fitting in that in the year which sees the 20th anniversary of the grunge scene that so revitalised 1990s music, Altuzarra would produce a collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 that celebrates the grungy glamour of throwing a parka over your prettiest party dress. The inspiration for this collection? Kate Moss off course! Now, think back to the early days of Grunge, which juxtaposed the start of the career of the woman destined to be the most infamous supermodel of them all. Grunge music bought grunge fashion – Courtney Love in her torn nighties and Doc Marten boots and Babes in Toyland in 1960s dresses and parkas. Then along came…

Amy Winehouse.
I was devastated to hear about the tragic and untimely death of Amy Winehouse today at the far too young age of 27. I saw Amy perform live in 2007 and she was truly amazing – an iconic talent with a style and voice that was truly unique. Back to Black is my favourite album, one I listen to when happy(Tears dry on their own is so uplifting) or sad (is there a more poignant song than Love is a loosing game?). I followed Amy’s story in the hope that it might have a happy ending, but it was not to be. It would be easy to remember the dishevelled…

Five fashion eras in one month.
July is turning out to be an interesting month style wise, not least because it is the month when retro styling is embracing so many different eras. Just flicking through some magazines and trawling websites I was amazed to see celebs wearing a range of great looks that span from the 1950s right up to the 1990s. Have a look through these and see if agree that for July 2011, anything goes. 1950s – Kelly Brook in Ischia Not always a fan of her sometimes cartoonish look, but I absolutely adore this 1950s style print sundress. This is so Roman Holiday, and I love the clashing print of her Gucci…

Get the Jessie J look at Harvey Nichols, Birmingham
Did anyone really pay that much attention to this years Britain’s Got Talent? Let’s face it, apart from the Ronan Parke and a batty female Liberace called Jean, it wasn’t the most interesting of programmes…that is until Jessie J appeared. When Jessie J stepped onto the stage, all eyes just shot to her lips, rather than a normal, glossy lipstick, Jessie’s lips were made up in a perfect Union Jack. This left women everywhere shouting ‘Where can I get that look?’ Well, help is now at hand. I can reveal that Jessie was wearing Violent Lips. Violent Lips are a range of temporary tattoos that come in a whole range…

Why the X Factor needs to back off Tulisa.
It’s the funniest news story of the fashion day, the news that new X Factor judge Tulisa is going to be given a £70,oo0 makeover because producers are worried that she is too chavvy! It’s had me in bits most of the day but also set me thinking, DID THE PRODUCERS NOT LOOK AT PICTURES OF TULISA BEFORE THEY GAVE HER THE JOB? Tulisa is chavvy, but this has always been her style. She is an urban artist with the band NDubz, working with her cousin Dappy, a man never seen without some sort of woolly hat. Who exactly did the idiots at X Factor think NDubz were – a…
