The MTV Fashion VMAS
Any MTV awards seem to promise a wide range of interesting looks – some amazing, some not so. This Sunday’s awards were dominated by the news of Beyoncé’s pregnancy, Lady Gaga turning up as her alter-ego – a man named Jo, and Katie Perry wearing four different outfits – everyone bad! Here are some of the looks I really liked..and a few I didn’t. Beyoncé looked beautiful in a sari style dress by Lanvin. This reminded me of the green dress that JLo once worn to the Oscars, and I think it screamed style and elegance whilst covering that little baby bump. The colour looked great on her, and I…

Style Icon of the Month August – Lady Gaga.
I have always admired Lady Gaga has an icon of style. But rather like the way you admire Erno Goldfinger‘s tower blocks, but wouldn’t want to live in them, I admired Gaga’s crazy meat dresses, sequined lobster hats and crazy shoes, but could never see anyone else wearing them. But this is the month when I’ve had to say – Gaga – you look great, and I would definitely wear that dress! This seems to be the month when Gaga has grown into a beautiful lady, and it seems to be with some thanks to Donatella Versace. Donatella gave Gaga access to the Versace archives earlier this Summer. At first…

V festival fashion- who was top of the pops?
For many festivals have become as much about watching the fashion as about the music. In the case of this years V festival I can say it was probably more interesting. As someone who loves Oasis, Kasabian, The Killers, Strokes etc, I can say that guitar bands seem to be in short supply, and there was an awful lot of pop and R&B/Rap on the menu. But festival style seems to improve each year. Here are some of my favourites, both on and off the stage. Rihanna I loved that Rihanna flew the flag in this cute Union Jack crop top. She has the body to make anything look good,…

Grazia admits It photoshopped Duchess Kate
She looked so beautiful in that Sarah Burton dress, but when she appeared on the Grazia commemorative issue, Kate, the new Duchess of Cambridge, looked decidedly slimmer. Grazia denied it had done anything to alter Kate’s figure, which included a miniscule waistline. But now Grazia have admitted that they did ‘Photoshop’ the image of Kate that they used, although they claim that the slimming of Kate was an inadvertent consequence of the picture manipulation, rather than the actual reason for it. Confused? Well, it seems that the Groom, Prince William had selfishly been holding Kate by the arm in the original picture, ruining the Grazia cover. Grazia had altered the…

Altuzarra revivies the Grunge Glamour of 90s Mossy.
It seems fitting in that in the year which sees the 20th anniversary of the grunge scene that so revitalised 1990s music, Altuzarra would produce a collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 that celebrates the grungy glamour of throwing a parka over your prettiest party dress. The inspiration for this collection? Kate Moss off course! Now, think back to the early days of Grunge, which juxtaposed the start of the career of the woman destined to be the most infamous supermodel of them all. Grunge music bought grunge fashion – Courtney Love in her torn nighties and Doc Marten boots and Babes in Toyland in 1960s dresses and parkas. Then along came…
