Dorothy Perkins – Pretty Pastels and floral prints
Spring/Summer fashion has just gone all girlish and pretty on us with the latest drops at Dorothy Perkins. Pastel shades and floral prints are dominating the designs, giving a real feel of all things ‘Summer’ – garden parties, sorbet ice cream and pretty seasonal blooms, with a dash of blue skies and sunshine yellow scattered throughout. This is an over-whelmingly feminine collection, full of ladylike, full skirts and maxi length dresses. The inspiration seems to comes from glamorous icons of the past who never looked less than ladylike – Grace Kelly in her full skirts, Jackie Kennedy in her boxy, pastel coloured jackets, and Diana, Princess of Wales in neat…

Shoe obsession – Melissa’s plastic fashion
If there is one brand of shoe I am more than a little obsessed with, it has to be Melissa’s. The Brazilian brand, that was founded in 1979, has managed to create ultra fashionable shoes with a total point of difference – they’re plastic. And not just any old plastic, the plastic of Melissa’s always smells like the sweetest and fruitiest Haribo’s imaginable. No wonder I’m totally in love with them. I first fell under the spell of Melissa when I saw their collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. My first pair was a Mary Jane style in black mock croc. I was shocked at how comfortable they were, and just how…

My first Swimwear review – Lascana from Swimwear 365
When I attended the Look Again press event in February, I was really impressed by the swimwear brand Swimwear 365, who were also exhibiting their Spring/Summer range for 2014. I loved the fact that this was both a super stylish, but also inclusive, swimwear brand, with sizing going from a size 6 to a size 34, and cup sizes AA to K. I also loved the opportunity to mix and match pieces, so that you had the opportunity to find the perfect swimwear, whatever your body shape, or personal preference. But mostly, I loved the fact that there were swimming costumes that were sexy and sleek, for those of us…

Skribbies – A cute idea in Kids shoes
Easter half term saw an exciting new development open in Birmingham’s Bullring, with POP UP Birmingham giving space and a showcase to a range of 80 new designers for a period of 8 weeks. One of the first companies to take up space in the new store was fabulous children’s footwear brand Skribbies, which offers light up LED shoes on their company website among many other children’s footwear options. Skribbies are the innovative range of kids trainers that can be drawn on. The idea of young entrepreneur Jennifer Duthie, Skribbies were launched last year and have been a huge hit with parents and children alike. The premise is simple, the…

The Royal Tour – My favourite looks from (N)Z to A
The Royal tour of New Zealand and Australia is now officially over, and by any standards, it has been an absolute triumph for Prince William, Duchess Kate and the gorgeous baby Prince George. Kate’s wardrobe, as ever, has been a joy for fashion lovers, with a definite emphasis on something old, something new, jewellery borrowed, and something blue. Before the tour, there had been lots of speculation about Kate’s wardrobe, with some saying The Queen had asked for more jewellery, more designer wear and longer skirts. I personally think Kate’s wardrobe proved to be a total triumph that stayed true to her fashion roots. There were splashes of High Street…
