Friday Fashion – Pretty in Pink with Chi Chi London
A friend once set me a challenge, post a song to Facebook that I loved, beginning with the Letter P. There were a few contenders, including a lot of songs by Pulp and Parklife by Blur, but in the end I opted for a song that is not only a total classic, but is also the soundtrack to one of my fave 80s chick flicks. Pretty in Pink is the ultimate 80s chick flick, starring the brilliant Molly Ringwald as Andie, a girl from the wrong side of the tracks who attracts the attention of the lovely Andrew McCarthy as Blane (those 80s movie names). The film culminates in the…

Floozie by Frost French – Retro Swimwear
I was in Birmingham, on my way to an event, and had a little time to kill. I decided to take a little wonder around the huge Bullring branch of Debenhams. With a holiday fast approaching, I headed straight for the holiday/swimwear collection, and promptly fell completely in love with the range from Sadie Frost and Jemima French, the fantastically named ‘Floozie’. This is a retro inspired collection that could’ve come straight from a range of saucy postcards, totally apt in it’s name. This weekend is a good time to take a closer look at Debenhams swimwear if you are sourcing your holiday wardrobe. You can find a whole series…

Occasion wear at Quiz Clothing
Yesterday I received my first invitation to an event that I describe as part of summer season. It is for a ladies day lunch and seasonal style and fashion show and is being hosted at Birmingham’s Botanical gardens, and will call for a knockout dress. This invite is sure to be followed by invites to ‘Ladies Day’ events at the races and the tennis, any number of wedding invites and generally for events that call for occasion wear. So the question is, what to wear? Fashion-Mommy does Ladies Day and Weddings I have a few go-to shops when it comes to occasion wear, but have recently discovered a new one.…

Flower Power from Wallis
This post is inspired by the beautiful weather we are having at the moment…and Helen McCrory. Bright, sunshine weather always makes me turn to the pretty floral pieces I have in my wardrobe, it just seems so apt to be wearing something floaty and pretty when the days are fine and warm. Thus my first influence is quite easily explained. The second is the fabulous actress Helen McCrory. I honestly can’t think of an actress who does florals on the red carpet quite as wonderfully as Helen. Last night she rocked up at the Television BAFTA’s in a stunning orange, floral print dress that was both classic in terms of…

Friday Fashion- Botanical Brights from John Lewis
There was a bit of a miracle occurance this week when it came to the weather – the sun came out! Yes, it has been truly beautiful for the past few days, and with the weather this weekend promising to be ‘hotter than Ibiza’, this Friday fashion post could only be dedicated to pieces that are as bright and beautiful as the weekend promises to be. John Lewis has launched an edit that it describes as ‘Botanical Brights’. This is a collection of items that you could wear now, and will also be brilliant to pack in your suitcase when it comes to Summer holiday time. The pieces are in…
