Afternoon Tea with Tom Chambers and Charlotte Ritchie
Noel Coward’s classic farce Private Lives is coming to the Birmingham New Alex Theatre this February, and to celebrate the occasion, the theatre hosted a very special Q&A session and afternoon tea with two of the stars, Strictly winner Tom Chambers and Call the Midwife star Charlotte Ritchie. It was a lovely opportunity to learn a little more about the play, and about the life of an actor working on a play. And to eat cake, lots of lovely cake. I took my mom along for the afternoon, and we had a lovely time enjoying the charm and wit of Tom and Charlotte, who are just perfect for Noel Coward’s…

How To Invest In Vintage Timepieces
Many people don’t purchase a watch, they invest in one. Even if they end up spending a lot on a vintage piece, there’s one thing that they keep in mind and that is appreciation. Preloved goods with Secondwow
For as long as I can remember I have had an obsession with finding second hand bargains. I have trawled vintage stores, car boot sales, charity shops, jumble sales and the internet for fabulous finds. I look for vintage clothing, gorgeous things for the home, Art Deco collectables and beautiful mirror compacts. Lately I have also been looking for retro football strips and Subbuteo sets for Joe. There are some great items waiting to be found out there, but it can also be difficult to find good quality pieces that are also in good condition. Secondwow is a new site which allows you to find a wide range of second…

A weekend Wardrobe on a budget
August 6th was a milestone for myself and hubby Pete, as we celebrated 10 years of marriage. To celebrate, we spent a really romantic weekend in the utterly gorgeous Bowness on Windermere, enjoying a weekend of glorious sunshine and amazing scenery and food. For once, I decided to pack light, and with a bit of a them. I only packed dresses, opted for bright shoes and kept accessories to a minimum. I decided to take a couple of sales bargains, a couple of vintage finds and a current favourite dress that is made for summer nights. This is a very quick outfit post to show what I chose to wear…

Why I still love shopping from a catalogue
When I look back and try to decide where my interest in fashion came from, I find it very easy to give an answer. It was the Kays catalogue! In the early 1980s my mom always used to shop from catalogues, and Kays was her absolute favourite. It was always an exciting moment when the new one was delivered encased in its box and I don’t mind admitting that I savoured every page and would look through it over and over again. I can clearly remember the first issue I ever looked through was very influenced by Princess Diana – all the models seemed to be wearing pill box style…
