Dorothy Perkins – Pretty Pastels and floral prints
Spring/Summer fashion has just gone all girlish and pretty on us with the latest drops at Dorothy Perkins. Pastel shades and floral prints are dominating the designs, giving a real feel of all things ‘Summer’ – garden parties, sorbet ice cream and pretty seasonal blooms, with a dash of blue skies and sunshine yellow scattered throughout.
This is an over-whelmingly feminine collection, full of ladylike, full skirts and maxi length dresses. The inspiration seems to comes from glamorous icons of the past who never looked less than ladylike – Grace Kelly in her full skirts, Jackie Kennedy in her boxy, pastel coloured jackets, and Diana, Princess of Wales in neat pencil skirts and shift tops. The effect is of sheer elegance, with a collection of pieces that would cover your summer occasions from A (Ascot) to Z (A trip to the zoo maybe in the fab kimono jacket – just add jeans or denim cut-offs on a super sunny afternoon.)
The accessories are also pretty special too. I have highlighted a couple of my faves, including a sensational statement necklace. It .resembles a piece from Butler and Wilson, and far belies its £15 price tag. I also really like the perforated clutch bag in that most versatile shade of white. I just took one clutch bag on holiday with me last year (packing requirements and all that), and I chose a white one because, it would, quite simply. go with everything. This super pretty design would do just the same, and, as £15, I really think this is a no brainer.
