Duchess of Cambridge – Still a Topshop Girl at heart
Got to be one of the nicest fashion stories of today. The What Kate Wore blogger who stood in the queue at Topshop (Kensington High Street branch I think!) and realised that the beautiful, long-haired brunette standing next to her didn’t merely resemble the former Miss Middleton, but was actually KATE. Standing so close she could actually see her purse full of points rewards cards (just love this point – keep picturing Kate with a Nectar card!), the clever blogger made a mental note of what Kate bought and then shared it with the Kate-loving blogosphere. And here is the little list.
Kate tapped into the neat, tailored 1940s trend with a green, polka dot pencil skirt. The skirt would look fab with a tailored jacket, or maybe a fluffy mohair jumper, and I can even see bright red lips and a pillbox hat with this look. Unfortunately, this skirt is now out-of-stock on the Topshop website, but I have shown another colour variation that is still in stock for £35.
Kate also purchased a rather regal blue boucle jacket with a velvet trim. This is gorgeous, and is definitely the sort of thing Kate might wear to cover up a little black dress for an official occasion. Priced at £65, this has a British take on Chanel feel about it. You can visit the link below, but beware, since I looked at the link about 5pm this afternoon, many sizes have already sold out. If your size is gone, you could opt for this similar style in red, also from Topshop.
Kate also purchased some earrings, although she left a pair at the checkout. There is so much to love about this story. The fact that Kate turned up unannounced, queued for the changing room and waited her turn at the checkout is just another reason to love the Duchess. Let’s face it, there are z-list stars who won’t turn up without an entourage, and yet our future Queen does just that! I love the fact that she is continuing her love affair with the great British High Street, and particularly Topshop, a brand she turned to when she split with William that showed a new, sexier Kate to the world.
And I really adore the point about those rewards cards!!!
Kate and William return to the public stage on Thursday, when they will be visiting a Cancer Ward of the Royal Marsden Hospital. Wouldn’t it be great if she wore that blue jacket…
