Happy Birthday Style Birmingham #Style50

Last week so the most glittering, glamorous party of the year in Birmingham. Style Birmingham magazine was celebrating 50 issues and 10 years with a glamorous shindig in the new Canalside venue. The champagne flowed, the music played and the food was deliciously naughty, and I was lucky enough to have an invite. So, with my sister Jodie as my plus one, I had the naughtiest, most decadent school night in quite a while.

The canalside venue at The Cube looked amazing. I was lucky enough to have had a tour around the site before it was finished, and had basically struggled to see how this would be a venue, despite the stunning views across the canal. But the blank space proved to be the perfect canvas, and with blow up sofas, bars in three corners of the room, giant light up letters spelling out style, and a 1970s, Studio 54 style light up dancefloor, this was the perfect venue for a very special occasion.

The party had been organised by Style and East Village Life, one of Birmingham’s leading PR companies and one who certainly know how to throw a party. There was a Champagne bar, a cocktail bar serving specially created cocktails for the evening (I had the East Village and it was divine!), as well as a bottle bar for those who like their drinks to be made with hops. The food consisted of delicious burgers, pizza and churros with chocolate sauce, but there was also a cute candy floss stall offering all flavours of floss, as well as popcorn. I’m not sure what flavour I got, but it was blue and I found it in my hair and stuck to my face the following morning, which I’m guessing means I had a good time!

Style 50 was a fabulous night and it was lovely to see so many Birmingham bloggers and friends amongst the guests. I had a wonderful time, well worth the hangover on a school night.
