Luc Belaire and Ben Eine Collaboration at Selfridges Birmingham
I love a good collaboration, and when it involves a cool street artist and a French premium wine brand, so much the better. Selfridges are currently, exclusively offering just this, with a collaboration between Luc Belaire and Ben Eine. Ben has designed a limited edition custom-made backpack as part of a Belaire gift set.
Ben Eine is, without doubt, one of street-art’s most established names, and his work can be seen throughout London, where his giant, colourful letters and words adorn whole swathes of the city’s shop fronts and walls. He hit headlines when his piece ‘21st Century City’ was given as a gift by David Cameron to Barack Obama on his state visit to the USA in 2010. He has since expanded his craft to the world’s major cities, including New York and Paris.
Eine brings his signature individual letters in trademark colours and typography to Belaire in the form of a distinctive spay-painted ‘B’ and ‘Belaire’ emblazoned on the front of each backpack in glossy metallic inks, using his bold, aspirational style to further enhance Belaire’s contemporary appeal. Belaire’s iconic “B” – seen on the brand’s limited edition, luminescent bottles – is further elevated by Eine into something even more unique and cool in two colourways, metallic pink in celebration of the brand’s Provencal Rosé Belaire Rosé or metallic gold for the Brut Belaire Gold.
The Luc Belaire x Ben Eine backpack is crafted from soft, stretchy neoprene and features a large main compartment complete with two interior bottle pockets, perfect for carrying Belaire’s iconic black bottles – two of which are included in the gift set – the brand’s signature Rosé, Belaire Rosé and their elegant‘blanc de blancs’ Belaire Gold. I have been lucky enough to have been gifted one of the first bags (I don’t even think they are available online yet) and I have to say they have an undeniably cool feel about them, perfect for students, the office or just using at the weekend. The gold lettering on my bag adds just that touch of bling, and yet they are highly practical too.
Ben Eine says: “My work has its roots in urban art and street art, and has developed into a mainstream, contemporary and luxury arena. Luc Belaire as a contemporary, street-luxe brand is a reflection of this, and it has been a pleasure to work with a brand that celebrates creativity and nonconformism in a manner that suits my own sensibilities. I hope to see people wearing my art around London over the Christmas period and fully intend on popping some bubbly in celebration!”
Each Luc Belaire x Ben Eine gift set can be purchased for the price of £60.00 and is available across Selfridges stores (London, Birmingham and Manchester) and internationally online at Selfridges.com.
