Roll-up, Roll-up for the Selfridges Shoe Carnival

What is your favourite carnival? Maybe you attend a local one each year, with floats full of children in fancy dress. Do you go to Notting Hill every August, seeing out the end of the holidays in festive style? Or maybe you’ve got further afield, to the beauty of the Venice carnival, with its masked figures and Rococo style elegance, or to sun dripped Brazil for the Mardi Gras? Fabulous carnivals one and all.

But this year you don’t need to travel that far to experience all the fun of the carnival. Just pop along to Selfridges and experience the colour, vitality and sheer lustworthy beauty of the Shoe Carnival taking place this month. This is an opportunity to check out all the latest in shoe trends, from the bright, bold and beautiful, to the surreal and wonderful. There are exclusive styles in the theme of fun, theatre and dance from the cream of the shoe design world.

I’ve been browsing through some of the key designs and matching them up to some of my fave celebrity fashionista’s. Here’s what I’ve chosen for each lady.

Jennifer Lawrence

Super pretty and girlie, but with a tougher edge, it had to be the pink studded McQ’s for Oscar Winning Jennifer…although she would have to watch her step of course!

Kate Moss

Rock chick, super model and all round style icon Kate is rather partial to a pair of red boots, so I think the St Laurent red leather would be perfect for her. Pointed toe, skyscraper high heel, all she needs to do now is dig out those hot pants and she’s good to go.

Paloma Faith

Paloma Faith is the Queen of crazy and quirky style, but is never without glamorous heels. She even walked the Olympic Torch relay in mega heels. I think she would love the current Rupert Sanderson collection, in particular the yellow satin parrot prints, as bright and colourful as Paloma’s stage persona.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker is the ultimate shoe icon, Carrie Bradshaw was as well know for those Manolo’s as we was for her disastrous love life. In real life SJP is rather partial to pointed toes, and I think she would love these delicate yet edgy darlings from Valentino.

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez remains the quintessential Hollywood glamour girl. From head to toe Jennifer always seems to sparkle, sometimes quite literally. If Jennifer was heading to the Selfridges carnival, she would make her way straight over to the Jimmy Choo room, and I think she would choose the Dolly shoe, covered in Swarovski embellishments.
