Miami Vice style in a Pink Crepe Blazer from New Look

The hunt for a perfect pink jacket has been continuing at pace. I totally loved the F&F 60s style, which just looked so pretty over a dress (you can revisit that one here), but I was longing to find something that could be less formal, more at home with jeans, especially now we seem to be firmly entrenched in jacket weather. This gorgeous little number I was sent by New Look Inspire seems to fit the bill.

The Inspire Dark Pink Crepe Blazer from New Look takes its style cues from the 1980s, in particular it reminded me of the super cool style of Crockett and Tubbs from Miami Vice. Buttonless, with an elongated collar that gave a nod to tuxedo style jackets, this jacket feels soft, with a lovely lining that gives it a touch of luxury.

The jacket is generous in its sizing, it has a slightly oversized, slouchy quality which I love – this isn’t the jacket for you if you want something fitted. It will be great with jeans and tapered trousers, and could be worn over a dress if you want that effortlessly cool effect of wearing a tux over an evening dress. The jacket also has pockets – always worth another 10 points in my scoring system!

DSCN8831[1]I wore this jacket styled smart casually (I hate that phrase, but it does seem to fit wearing your best jeans, snazzy flats and a silky top). The top (from F&F) was in a charcoal grey shade that contrasted nicely against the vibrant pink of the jacket, whilst I do think indigo denim is the best shade to wear with hot pink. The silver shoes are my current faves, I love shoes with pointed toes at the minute, and I do think a flat shoe is perfect when the weather is a bit unfathomable. These flats were from F&F, but I have my eye on a lust have purchase pair from Marc by Marc Jacobs at the moment.

I totally love this jacket. There isn’t a single thing that I could pick out as not liking about it, the style, cut, and, of course, the colour are all perfect for me, and I know I will wear this again and again.

Autumn Collection at New Look

With the dawn of September we can safely say that Autumn is here, and I must admit that this is one of my favourite times of the year. I adore the autumnal colours, the darker shades that come back into our fashion focus, and I also love the addition of knitwear to our wardrobe again (although, being honest, this year it hasn’t actually left our wardrobe…)

One of the most successful new season ranges I have seen so far this season has been the collection from New Look. Filled with strong shades of bottle green and deep purple, teamed with more muted greys, and with a smattering of the always classic monochrome, New Look have taken strong, simple designs and infused them with life with the right colours and prints for the new season. I love the Gucci inspired green jeans and blazers, the sort of pieces I could see Charlotte Casiraghi wearing, whilst the pretty bird prints and fan prints have inspiration that seems to flow from the best of Miu Miu.

This is a great collection of ultra wearable pieces that will work hard for you all season long.

Kate Middleton earns her spots and stripes.

As one of Team GB’s most glamorous supporters, The Duchess of Cambridge has perfected a style that is both chic and smart, but does not draw undue attention from the athletes. It seems in the last few days that when she hasn’t been wearing official TEAM GB pieces that polo tops and tracksuit jackets, that she has stuck to a wardrobe of skinny jeans teamed with a blazer, and a palette of mainly (what else?) red, white and blue.

The Smythe blazer made a second appearance this week when it was teamed with a Breton striped vest top – a real summer classic. Breton stripes are always such a cool look, and this was effortlessy chic from the Duchess. Every girl should have at least one striped top in their summer wardrobe as they just look great in so many combinations – from wide leg palazzo pants, to denim skirts or tiny shorts. Kate’s version was a vest top, but something with sleeves means that this top will take you right into Autumn with ease.

One of my favourite looks from the Olympics s far has been Kate’s red blazered look. I love the vibrancy of red, and when teamed with polka dots I think this is just genius. Kate’s blazer was another high street hit, this one from Zara, and it is still available online for £69.99. Kate teamed this with black skinny jeans for a smart casual look which again worked really well for the occasion.
