Links of London from Joshua James

Joshua James is one of the UK’s fastest growing independent jewellery retailers, stocking an enormous range of jewel brands that include Pandora, Links of London, Fossil, Guess, Trollbeads and Thomas Sabo. It was launched in 2009 and since then it has won a string of prestigious awards including Retailer of the Year at the the British Jewellers’ Association’s (BJA) 125th Anniversary Awards. It is a go-to store if you love fine and designer jewellery.

I was recently offered the opportunity to review a piece from their extensive range, and I chose a stunning bracelet from Links of London. Links are well known for their exquisite silver products, and this bracelet, the Links of London Silver Three Row Beaded Bracelet, just looked so pretty on the website.

Links of London products from Joshua James come in a very stylish gift box, which makes them a really beautiful gift option. The cream and black box is almost iconic now, such a lovely thing to have sitting on your dressing table.

The bracelet itself is delicate and beautiful. The three strands give the impression of a host of smaller bracelets, and are fastened with a silver clasp. Although the design is described as contemparary, what actually drew me to the bracelet was the fact that the faceted beads reminded me of Art Deco sun designs, with curved lines and a half sun shape.

The bracelet is 17.5cm in length. On my wrist, this sits quite comfortably and still gives a little wriggle room without it being really tight, or too loose. I like the fact that this is delicate, it means the piece is suitable for everyday wear, but would still look elegant if worn for evening occasions.

Reviewed – Pearl Rondel Bracelet from Pearl and Clasp

In general, the jewellery I own is costume stuff. I love statement necklaces, plastic bangles, little treasures I’ve picked up on my travels abroad and diamante bling. Most of my jewellery has sentimental, rather than actual value. But there is an exception to the rule. I love pearls. Pearls are the birthstone for June, they are a jewel that always looks pretty but with an edge of cool, Marianne Faithful, Marilyn Monroe and Madonna are just some of the icons who have worn pearls to make a fashion statement. Pearls are a style classic, always current, and always a statement.

American Company Pearl and Clasp have a fantastic range of freshwater pearl jewellery that ranges from fashion to classic pieces. I was recently sent a gorgeous piece from the brand, the Pearl Rondel bracelet. This is a beautiful bracelet made up of 6mm freshwater pearls combined with silver and cubic zircona rondels at different intervals of the bracelet. At the centre of the bracelet is a silver and cubic zircona bead which brings to mind those used by Tresor Paris.

This is a really lovely piece. The string is elastic, and this means that the bracelet is very easy to get on and off – there’s no fiddling with clasps or needing to ask another person to fasten your bracelet. The stones are both delicate and eye catching, with the silver sections really sparkling in different lights.

This is a wear anywhere piece. It is small and delicate enough to be suitable to wear as an everyday item, but would also look amazing when teamed with a little black dress. I think this would be a fabulous bracelet for a bridesmaid to wear, or as a bridesmaid gift from a grateful bride. This would be lovely as a first piece of jewellery for a little girl because of the ease of putting it on and off, but is certainly lovely enough for any grown up little girl (ahem!) to love too. The one thing I would say is that it may not be suitable for ladies with larger wrists, I have a slight gap in the elastic which I hide at the back of my wrist. But, other than that, I think this is pretty gorgeous by anyone’s standards.

Folli Follie Bracelets – A fashion passion

Last Christmas I attended a special bloggers event at Selfridges in Birmingham. It was an amazing event which I truly enjoyed, and the night was enhanced even more when we were given a special Christmas goodie bag to take home. I literally let out a squeal of delight when I discovered an orange Folli Follie pouch within, and squealed some more when I opened it to find a beautiful signature bracelet in one of my favourite shades of blue. Christmas had certainly come early!

Since that night I have fallen deeper and deeper in love with Folli Follie, a brand which I think designs beautiful jewellery which also deliver the elements of fun and colour. Finding that my beloved bangle came in my current favourite shade of hot pink, and also in a monochrome style design in black and sparkling silver, were the start of this obsession.

But it’s not just the resin signature bangles that have me dancing with joy, for Folli Follie really is King (or more likely Queen) when it comes to designing something totally eye-catching for your wrist.  The ‘Greece is Bliss’ bracelets are great fun, coming in a range of zesty, bright colours, making them the perfect holiday accessory. I adore the ‘Colourful bracelet’, which has the look of a solitaire ring, but again has a colourful punch in shades of orange, pink and purple (amongst many other colours…Folli Follie is the Rainbow Brite of the jewel world.)
