Reviewed – Carlito Quinn Boots from Brantano

[affilinet_performance_ad size=468×60]

Now we are firmly ensconced in the season of cold and frosty weather, a good pair of boots is a must. My checklist when it comes to boots is that they must look great, be really comfortable and be I tend to go for leather (even though I love suede with a passion, you need at least one pair of leather boots for the really wet weather.) Also, I tend to agree with Victoria Beckham when it comes to heels.

Brantano have a great range of ladies ankle boots including a lot of designs with heels that would look great with a dress or jeans. My current favourites are the Carlito Quinn design which are made by the iconic British brand Clarks. Clarks have changed so much in recent years, they were once known for great quality leather shoes that were mainly worn by kids for school. But now the designs are fashion forward and stylish, but still with that mark of quality that you would expect from the brand.

The Carlito Quinn is almost like a Chelsea Boot with a heel. In stylish black leather and with an 8cm heel, this boot is just lovely. It has elasticated sides which make it very comfortable and offer a little stretch, and there is a small hook detail on the back of the shoe which makes it easy to put the boot on and take it off again. The boot runs true to size, I wear a size five and these are comfortable enough to wear all day, even if you are on your feet for the day.

These boots work well with a range of outfits, and are currently reduced, with a £15 saving, making them a great winter fashion buy.

Wear with…

Vintage skirt and jumper.

Winter Coat and Scarf.

Peg trousers and a 1980s vintage top.

If the school holiday is already beginning to take its toll and you are trying to find things to do with your little ones next week, then get yourself down to popular shoe retailer Brantano. Stores across the country are inviting children to take part in a truly heroic fundraising reading event next Wednesday (10th August, from 11am until 3pm.)

Raising much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the shoe retailer will be hosting a story telling day across it stores throughout England. To further add to the excitement and interest levels for youngsters, all those taking part are being asked to turn up as their favourite superhero, because, let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy the opportunity to dress up!

Karen Staton, Retail Operations Director of Brantano, explains a little more: “We are delighted to be running this story-telling day, and we hope lots of children turn out dressed like their favourite superheroes. It should be great fun for everyone and will hopefully raise lots of money for a very worthy cause.”

She continues:-

“Summer is also an important time for many parents, as it’s not too long until attention turns to children going back to school. Brantano provides a top class shoe fitting service, carried out by our experts on the subject, to ensure pupils all over the country will be returning to school in footwear that is perfectly suited to them.” I recently tried out the Brantano fitting service and have to say I was really impressed with the choice and variety of shoes and the efficiency of the service, so I agree this could be the perfect way to get new shoes, enjoy a fun session and help raise money for charity.

So far Brantano has raised more than £7,000 for the charity through a number of fundraising events nationwide. It is hoped the final figure will stand at £40,000.

Kids shoe fitting at Brantano

It’s that time of year again. Thoughts are turning towards the end of the current school year, and as the new uniforms are ordered, we also turn our heads towards new school shoes, and seeing how much our kids feet have grown. For a long time, this meant a trip to Clarks, but now Brantano are also offering a great kids fitting service. The beauty of the Brantano service is that the sizes actually correspond to sizes of shoes you purchase from elsewhere!

I went along to one of my local Brantano stores last Saturday to get Joe fitted with some new shoes for school. As much as I would love him to be able to wear his current pair for the last few weeks, his feet have clearly grown and those aforementioned shoes are now very uncomfortable. Joe was looked after by Melissa, who very quickly and efficiently measured his feet, and proclaimed that he had gone up to a size 2, and was also a wider fitting. (The foot gauge measures by the length, width and depth of each foot.) Joe was deigned to have a tapered foot shape and his depth is deep.

Once we had all the relevant information, Melissa asked what sort of shoe we were looking for. We wanted something suitable for school, so we were taken to the exact section. All shoes are on display and are organised by size, so there is no waiting for someone to go in the back and check availability, you can find what you are looking for with ease. We found quite a few pairs that Joe liked, and Melissa then advised that Joe try both shoes on to see how comfortable they were on. Once he was down to two pairs, he tried a shoe from each pair and finally decided on a sporty pair of shoe/trainers from Adidas.

Melissa explained that as Brantano doesn’t stock half sizes, they use insoles to makes shoes more comfortable if you go to the nearest full size. The store stocks brands including Startrite, Hush Puppies and Adidas, so there is plenty of choice and a good range of styles.

If your child is due to have their feet measured, I would well recommend the service offered by Brantano.
