Duchess Kate wears Roksanda Ilincic to the Royal Academy
The Duchess of Cambridge summer wardrobe of style continued today, with two appearances by Kate, at the equestrian event to support Zara Philips (who was superb by the way…), and then at an event at The Royal Academy she wore a beautiful dress by one of my favourite designers, Roksanda Ilincic. But first to the equestrian ground. Kate was in casual mode, wearing the gorgeous Smythe blazer that we first saw during the tour of Canada last summer. Kate’s Olympic wardrobe – The story so far.
One of the most exciting things about the Olympics from a fashion point of view is that we are going to be seeing a lot of the Duchess of Cambridge, which of course means lots of fab outfits to pour over. Kate has so far been seen in cut price Hobbs, cut price Zara…and CHRISTOPHER KANE! (Cue mega excitement from me!) Kate Middleton is feeling blue – again!
It has to be said that the Duchess of Cambridge is rather fond of a touch of blue, it seems to be a colour she wears again and again. Last week she attended an event at The National Portrait gallery wearing a vibrant Stella McCartney cobalt blue shift dress that to me was very reminiscent of the sort of styles worn in the 1960s by Jackie Kennedy. The blue was very vibrant and made a great backdrop for the special Olympic rings necklace she was also wearing that day. What does an average week entail to you? Work, a few drinks at the weekend, a family meal. If you’re me this week it entails Jedward, Total Wipeout and pear cider, but this is my holiday time. Take your festival inspiration from Next…and Kate Middleton
Festival season in the UK starts today in typically British style, wet and windy. We can look at all those wonderful Coachella posts where the stars look fabulous in their sundresses, hot pants and flip-flops, but the reality is, we should be looking a little bit closer to home for our festival inspiration. Last weekend Kate Middleton wore what I think is actually the perfect British festival outfit. Taking some time under canvas, she opted for wellies, a Burberry shirt, teamed with Zara Jeans and a v neck sweater.
