Popular Shoe Styles and their Country of Origin
From sneakers and sandals to pumps and flats there are a variety of shoe styles for women to choose between. Some are more casual than others while some are for specific activities like running or playing sports. Each individual style originated from a different place and has its own story, as seen in an interesting infographic . At Fashion Compassion, origin stories for brands are featured regularly, but this will touch upon the origin of specific popular shoe styles instead of individual brands. Mary Janes – US These semi-formal shoes were originally created in the US by the Brown Shoe Company around 1904. The shoe usually features a black flat…

Reviewed – Clarks Nessa Clare Boots
Like a lot of ladies who enjoyed some sport when they were younger, I have rather large calf muscles, which makes buying calf length and knee High boots a challenge. So when I was asked to review a pair of boots from Clarks, I immediately opted for a pair from the K range, which have wider E fittings and a wider leg fitting. The boots I chose were the gorgeous Nessa Clare in black patent. These are a classic riding style boot with a practical flat heel that makes them perfect for everyday use. The black patent finish also gives them a slightly dressier feel, as does the striking ankle…

Check out these amazing Hush Puppies from Schuh
Hands up if you’ve heard of Hush Puppies? I can bet that almost all of you reading this are holding your arm aloft in the air as we speak. Hush Puppies are a British institution, having been established in 1958, and still going strong almost 55 years later. Because Hush Puppies have seen a style revolution in recent years, and have emerged with some seriously stylish contemporary looks. Funky sandals,…

Of all our modern-day style icons, Kate Moss is the one we most revere. She has become a style legend – the women who looks good in anything and everything, the model who has launched a thousand looks. Pirate boots – that was Kate. Festival chic matching glitter to Hunter wellies – that was Kate too. Fringed flapper style dresses worn with Mary Janes – Yes, you’ve guessed it, vintage Kate Moss. No wonder we all gasped in disbelief and excitement when it was first announced that Kate was going to do a collection in collaboration with everyone’s fave high street store ‘Topshop‘. Just the idea that you might be…

Paloma Faith in Wolverhampton – Diva Fever.
Fashion-mommy’s favourite Diva hit Wolverhampton Civic Hall tonight, and that meant a night out without the Baba. This was actually a much-needed blessing in disguise has Baba has hit the terrible tutu’s (22 months that is) and is refusing to go to sleep, day or night. So Fashion-Mommy threw on her glad rags, grab her leopard print t-bars and red lippy, and went with Hubby to see the wonderful Paloma Faith whilst Nanna and grandad looked after a somewhat truculent Baba. Fashion-Mommy loves dressing up, and has Paloma is one of my favourite style icons, an effort had to be made. Neat black pencil skirt with a puff sleeved lace…
