This year the theme is a mystical, celestial one, with the title being ‘Journey to the Stars’ and the focus being the Christmas star, linking collections to astronomy, astrology and spirituality. This theme led to a truly magical press day, with an abundance of midnight blue and silver when it came to fashion. When do you officially start your countdown to Christmas? Is it when you first realise that every advert on TV is for some sort of toy? Is it when you see the giant tins of Quality street have arrived in your local supermarket? Selfridges Destination Christmas – The Emporium arrives in Birmingham
Last Thursday was definitely a red-letter day for lovers of all things Selfridges and all things Christmas. For the first time ever, Selfridges Birmingham opened a dedicated Christmas Emporium. Jam packed to the rafters with all things festive, including the most varieties of crackers I have ever seen under one roof, the Selfridges Destination Christmas Emporium is enough to make Ebenezer Scrooge dispense with the ‘humbug’ and reach for the Yule log – it is just so seasonably fabulous. Selfridges Destination Christmas
Even in the realms of Christmas in July events, there is always something super special about Selfridges Christmas in July. For fans of the festive season, it is truly destination Christmas. Held in the industrial confines of the Old Selfridges Hotel, this years event had snow, a giant Polar Bear, a Kate Spade pop up shop and some of the most mouth-watering gorgeous food treats I have ever tasted.
